686VPL dates back to 21 September 1961 and was then dispatched to Coombs of Guildford. The original owner retained the car to 2003 which is extraordinary, the second owner then had the car for 16 years before it passed to the third and last owner. The car was subject to restoration by Malmesbury Specialist Cars for the original owner which included new factory bonnet, doors and boot lid. The engine was rebuilt, brightwork rechromed, new glass, wheels and tyres fitted, the interior was retrimmed, and new weather equipment fitted.
The original mileage covered by this Jaguar is only 60,696, and since the engine rebuild it has covered a mere 1,867 miles, this can be seen in the MoT history in the file, During this time the car has been lovingly maintained with an annual MoT and inspection. The restoration is now showing minor signs of age, with a couple of dents and some minor blistering. Ideally she should have a respray but we think that should be for the next owner to decide hence we are offering the car in its present condition.
The car can certainly be enjoyed as it is. There is a file with the car containing MoT certificates back to 1997, registration documents and a JDHT Heritage Certificate confirming its authenticity. This represents an opportunity to buy the most desirable of the breed.
