Sellers description:
Jaguar E-Type Series 1 OTS 1961 - for sale

This Jaguar E-Type is an original right-hand drive UK car. The car was manufactured in November 1961 and delivered to Henlys Limited of London. From there very little is known about the cars life until it was restored in the early 2000s.

Although the car started its life with a 3.8 litre engine it extensively upgraded during this restoration and a fast road 4.2 litre engine was fitted at this time along with a five-speed gearbox. During the restoration this car was transformed into a homage to the 'semi-lightweight' racing E-Types and sports many of the features of these racers whilst remaining a very usable road car.

In addition to the fast road engine and five-gearbox this E-Type features many upgrades to improve performance and reliability. Underneath it features a uprated brakes and adjustable shock absorbers. The cooling system has been improved with an aluminium radiator, electric cooling fan and an oil cooler. The electrical system has been upgraded with a modern alternator which in tern powers electric power steering. This well considered array of upgrades make this sport scar both reliable and easy to enjoy in modern driving conditions.

Finished in Silver with a Black interior the car looks stunning. On the outside it has many of the key cosmetic features of the 'semi-lightweight' racing E-Types including the external ducting. The rear air duct has been cleverly repurposed to hold a row of extra brake lights. The sporting look of the outside is completed by a set of replica Dunlop peg drive wheels. The interior has been subtlety modernised with a gloss black dashboard, a pair of the most comfortable seats we have ever experienced in an E-Type and beautifully stitched black leather on the centre console and dash top.

Out on the road this car delivers a remarkable combination of poise and comfort. The fast road engine delivers truck loads of torque as you accelerate away and the exhaust note thought the stainless steel sports exhaust system give away to cars sporting protections. You can move swiftly up thought the gears of the five-speed gearbox and the car settles down into a sedate long distance cruiser once up in fifth gear. Out on twisty country roads the handling is sharp and responsive but the addition of the electric power steering won't feeling like you've had an upper body workout.

This Jaguar E-Type offers a fabulous combination of performance and practicality. The comfortable seats and five-speed gearbox make it ideal for cruising and a long distance touring. If you then want to take it to a track day the fast road 4.2 engine, quick gear change, suspension upgrades and wide tyres will make it not just fun on the track but also seriously fast.
