I purchased the vehicle in 1980.
The last registration on the windshield was 1973, the odometer read approximately 21,000 miles (unable to verify if correct).
A search thru Jaguar indicated all #s match Car 850274, Body R2363, Engine R2605-9, Transmission EB1717JS. Manufactured November 21, 1961as a RHD roadster, it was dark blue exterior with a beige interior and distributed thru Henleys in London.
The bonnet had separate louvers but was replaced with a new factory bonnet during restoration. The car was refinished in opalescent silver blue with a dark blue interior and top.
For approximately 15 years the car was stored by my father, John Farrell (who is the owner of John Farrell Auto Parts, a business which sold parts and rebuilt components for classic Jaguars). Many NOS parts were aquired for the restoration.
In the mid 1990's John sent the car to a restoration shop that was doing excellent metal replacement and paint work. Some of the parts replaced included: bonnet, front sub frames, inner and outer sills, floors, doors, upper and lower quarter panels, trunk floor, trunk lid, numerous other small and internal sheet metal components.
John and I rebuilt most of the mechanical components, some were sent out. When the body was completed all the mechanical components were re-fit. A new wiring harness was installed. The interior and convertible top were completed and installed with all new, correct materials.
The exterior trim was re-finished or replaced with NOS components.
The car was shown several times during the mid 1990's and driven less than 2000 miles.
Over the last year, I rebuilt the water pump and carburetors. A new fuel tank and aluminum radiator were installed at this time.
The car is stored in a warehouse with leaded non oxygenated fuel.
