Lot 33 at Brightwells Auction sale of Classic and Vintage Cars on 24th September 2020. Sold for £77,336. Amended catalogue description below.

Dating from 1962, this early S1 Roadster comes with little early history but a green logbook from 1973 indicates that it was painted white at that point and had the registration 580FOV, a Birmingham number which is where the car resided with owners in Erdington, then Solihull. Our vendor acquired it in September 1986 by which time it was looking sorry for itself. Over the next couple of years the car had an engine rebuild, suspension and brake overhaul, new headlights and bumpers, interior retrim and much else besides, all detailed in invoices on file. The number plate was also changed from 580FOV to YSV711.
The car was then used only lightly, an online MoT history chech shows that it only covered some 6,000 miles in the current 34 year ownership. Other invoices attest to upkeep including servicing, new front discs and all callipers rebuilt, rebuild with stainless steel pistons, cylinder head overhaul, new electronic ignition and stainless steel exhaust system. In 2016 the car went to Wren Classics of Shaftesbury who undertook a cylinder head overhaul, brakes overhaul, steering and suspension overhaul, new seat covers, carpets and door panels at a cost of £21,800, all work detailed in the invoices and photos. This E Type is usable but could be improved as the paint is tired, the driver's door fit could be improved and the tyres are old.
