Sold by Peter Bradfield Cars of South Kensington in Autumn 2019. Abbreviated seller's description below.
    www.bradfieldcars.com/cars/1962-jaguar-e-type-series-1-roadster/

The Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms it was manufactured on 16th November 1962 and dispatched on 30th November 1962, finished in Opalescent Silver Blue with Blue Grey leather trim and Blue soft top. This early car features larger rear driveshafts and wishbones, aluminium centre console and an air intake assembly without grooves. The history file includes the original buff logbook, copies of V5's, handbook, numerous concours certificates, invoices and photographs.

It was restored between 1989 and 1990 by R S Panels. At that time it was fitted with a four speed synchromesh gearbox from a Series 2 car that makes for nicer driving and a stainless steel exhaust system. The restoration was carried out to a high standard winning numerous awards including highly commended at the 1995 Jaguar Drivers Club concours, 1st in the 1996 Jaguar Drivers Club concours and 1st in the 2000 Jaguar Drivers Club concours.

This is a remarkable early E Type with the integrity of a settled restoration that looks fresh and bright. It retains its original engine and gearbox as well as being updated with a Series 2 synchro unit. It is offered for sale with its original registration number. Recent works by Brazzell Engineering ensure it handles as it should. An inspection and test drive will not disappoint.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
