history This UK right hand drive E-Type was the subject of a full body/mechanical restoration in our workshops during 1999 and is now in magnificent condition.

The original monococque structure has been retained and rebuilt with new panels including two full floor sections, inner and outer sill structures, door/boot lid skins and new bonnet.

Mechanically it's original engine has been fully rebuilt to leadfree specification. We have tried to retain as much of the cars originality as possible, whilst at the same time improving its driveability by fitting a fully rebuilt later spec 4.2 all synchromesh gear box in place of the original moss box. The suspension has been fully rebuilt with harder neoprene bushes, adjustable shock absorbers, 3.31:1 powerlok diff and runs on new wider 6 inch competition chrome wire wheels. The suspension has been set to manufacturer's specification and now handles impeccably.

This delightful car is offered with full documented history incorporating a photographic record of it's rebuild and supporting Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

PRICE
£45,000 Sterling.

The Jaguar Legend, Coys (2005-06-18 15:00:00)
This early E Type 3.8 roadster in gunmetal with red interior was built 29 July at the Browns Lane, Coventry works in 1963 and has been owned by the present keeper for the past fourteen years.During 1998/9, the convertible was the subject of a said to be comprehensive body, mechanical and interior restoration, the monocoque bodyshell having been totally stripped down and jig-rebuilt with the floors, both inner and outer sill structures, as well as the bonnet and the door skins renewed. A full photographic record of this rebuild comes with the car.Mechanically, we are told, everything that needed to be was overhauled, including the engine, which now can be run on unleaded fuel, while the suspension and the brakes were rebuilt with components renewed as necessary. The original, though often criticised Moss gearbox, has been replaced with a later Jaguar all-synchromesh transmission and the car is now shod with new 6 ins wide, competition-spec, chrome wire wheels. All the brightwork has been replated, too, so that the current condition of the car, which has reportedly been subjected to minimal use since restoration, is rated by the owner as being truly pristine.Supporting the history are the contents of the documents file, which also contains a Heritage Certificate recording the original manufacturing details, a V5 registration document confirming the 1580 PF registration currently on the car, old MOTs with the latest certificate valid until early May of next year and an historic vehicle tax disc which is current until the end of April 2006.An inspection during viewing will only confirm for yourself that this clearly well restored open E Type 3.8 really is in exceptional condition.

Model E-Type Series 1 3.8 Litre Roadster

This nice UK-delivered example was despatched on 29th July 1963 to its lucky first owner, later being the beneficiary of a comprehensive restoration to the bodywork, mechanics and interior trim. During the rebuild the engine was converted to run on unleaded, and the suspension and brakes rebuilt with new components as required. Notably the suspension was uprated with adjustable shock absorbers, the final drive was upgraded with a 3.31:1 Powerlok differential, and the wheels were replaced with six-inch wide Competition items. Following the restoration in the late 1990s the car was retained by its owner until being sold through Coys to our current vendor in 2006.

With just two owners in the last 26 years, this is a delightful usable E-Type which is ready to be enjoyed to the full by its next owner.

United Kingdom

This beautiful Jaguar Series 1 3. 8 Roadster is according to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate an original UK RHD Matching Numbers car – Chassis No: 850745, Engine No: RA 2916-9. The car was built in Coventry on 29th July 1963 and supplied new by Jaguar dealer Coombs of Guildford and first registered on 28th August 1963 and maintains its original rather nice registration of 1580 PF.

Finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Metallic with Red Leather trim, Red carpets, Black mohair Soft Top it has a 3781cc 265bhp Straight Six Engine with 4 Speed Manual Gearbox. It has Borrani Wire Wheels fitted with 185vr15 Pirelli Cinturato tyres.

A complete body restoration was commissioned in 1998/ 9 and there are a few photos in the history file for this. The Engine was rebuilt by Jaguar specialist VSE in Wales in 1998 when the speedometer was showing 67, 000 miles. The car was later sold in 2006 through Coys Auction house. The current owner has enjoyed the car since 2020. It is now showing 79, 104 miles on the speedometer, so only 12, 000 since the restoration.

The car looks stunning car in this colour combination and mechanically runs well and is certainly one of the nicest Series 1 E Types we have had the pleasure to sell. There are few minor cosmetic blemishes in the paintwork, but nothing significant and perhaps to be expected after over 20 years.

As an original Series 1 3. 8 RHD car, this is a fairly rare car, according to the DVLA records there are only 241 still registered.

This E-Type has an original Motorola 818 Jaguar OEM solid chrome radio externally restored to show quality with Jaguar legend lit dial, modernised internally to Bluetooth complete with upgraded speakers costing over £2, 300 finishes the original look and feel to the interior.

The car comes with an original complete leather tool roll, an original jack, workshop manual, original operating manual, V5C registration document, Green log book (VE. 60), history file and photos and Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificates, CTEK charger and Super Soft Stretch Indoor car cover.

This is a reluctant sale by the current owner who has enjoyed the thrill of driving this iconic British sportscar around the country lanes of Cornwall.
