    Car was at auction 2/08
    www.classicauctions.co.uk/lotdetail.php

    Sellers description:
This original righthand drive example was dispatched from Browns Lane in February 1962, its first owner being a J.G. Raenk from Bancroft, North Rhodesia. In 1981 it was exported to South Africa from where the current owner purchased it in 2002 and returned it to the UK. Finished in Carmen red with a black leather interior and full-length Webasto sunroof, it has since been the subject of a most exacting restoration costing in excess of £60,000 (excluding the owner's time), completed in 2007. The body has been subjected to a bare metal respray, with new panels fitted where necessary, indeed the panel fit is among the very best that we have seen. The engine was entrusted to Dick Bradley of Braintree, Essex, who undertook a total refurbishment and prospective purchasers are urged to view the history file to see exactly how comprehensive the work was. Fast road camshafts were fitted and the engine lightened and balanced. Further work undertaken has included the fitment of a new wiring loom and a stainless steel exhaust system.

Worthy of the closest inspection, the car is offered with a Swansea V5C, MoT certificate expiring May 2008, JDHT certificate, photographs of the body work undertaken and restoration invoices.

    Estimate: £40000 - 44000
    Mileage: 64800
    Colour: CARMEN RED
    Trim Colour: BLACK
    Chassis No: 860191
    Engine No: R3869-9
    Registration No: GAS 854
    M.O.T: MAY 2008

This car is presently in Essex being sold by a vendor called Purnell for £49,000. The car is in good condition and has its original jaguar tool kit. There are however some minor bodywork issues on the bonnet that would need to be rectified as the paint has cracked in the same place either side. Strong sounding engine.

The car has in August 2010 had the blemishes in its paintwork repainted and is now 100%. A number of minor interior parts have been sourced and fittted. It now runs with additional cooling and all the original parts are with the car, including a tin of matched carmen red paint. Mot'd and being used on a regular basis

Car to be at auction 4/11
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 155 - 1962 Jaguar E-Type S1 3.8 Fixedhead Coupe
    Estimate: £44,000 - £54,000
    Registration Number: GAS 854
    Chassis Number: 860191

The E-type on offer here today was manufactured in January 1962 and was the 191st right hand drive coupe off the production line. Exported to Rhodesia when new, this iconic coupe made its way back to the United Kingdom via South Africa, arriving around ten years ago. In 2005 a photographic restoration began with the bodywork undertaken by Carl Hopkins of Great Dunmow and the mechanical restoration carried out by Dick Bradley who took the opportunity to lighten and balance the engine and install fast road camshafts. On completion the car was offered as a competition prize at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2008 through Classic and Sports Car Magazine. Unfortunately, for those who entered the competition nobody could complete the challenge , therefore there was no winner and so it was purchased a short time later by the current owner.

Having covered only approximately 800 miles since the restoration, this E-Type is described as being in excellent condition throughout. The Carmen red paintwork is magnificent and the equally impressive black interior comfortable and inviting. The spare wheel appears unused and the rare toolkit is present and complete.

GAS 854 is supplied with current V5, MoT certificate valid until 31st October 2011, Jaguar Heritage certificate confirming that all numbers match, import paperwork, South African registration document and the photographic record of the restoration and associated invoices.

For the purist the 3.8 litre series I E-type is the variant to own and a better example than this would be very hard to find. With only 65,000 miles on the clock, this beautifully presented, early example of the iconic e-type would be the star of any Jaguar collection.
