Manufactured on 26 February 1962 and registered by Jaguar Cars with Coventry Borough Council before being delivered to the first owner, Gulson Engineering Limited, a tuning company with connections with Jaguar. In 1967 the car was purchased by the second owner, the grandson of Ramsey MacDonald, the Prime Minister of the UK from 1929 to 1935. He owned the car until about 2012. Sometime around 1978 the car was stripped down with the intention of restoring it. The engine was removed and passed to a friend for re-building, the friend passed away as did the engine which disappeared. Another engine was sourced for the car which is from the same year of manufacture as the car. The car remained in storage until 2013 when it was acquired by Clayton Classic Restorations of Coventry.
The car was in sound condition, in primer with almost no rot and just light surface rust in patches. Clayton Classic Restorations undertook a full body off nut and bolt restoration to a high standard with numerous upgrades installed. The work included a full bare metal re-spray, with all body gaps and shut lines checked and chrome trim finished to the highest standard. The engine was re-built, new wiring loom and fuse board installed, new interior trim throughout, new stainless steel exhaust system and new chrome wire wheels and tyres. The upgrades included fitting a new 5 speed gearbox, brake system upgrade, twin fuel pump system, LED interior lighting scheme and air conditioning fitted. The first two photographs show the car prior to restoration in 2013 and the last two photographs show the car after restoration in 2015. Clayton Classics sold the car in 2016.
