This 1962 Jaguar 'E' Type was originally supplied by Henly's of Manchester in coupe configuration but during the mid 1980's it underwent a professional nut and bolt restoration when it was converted to its present roadster format.
The car took some four or five years to restore and it received new chrome wire wheels and a Motolita steering wheel. Unfortunately there is some slight microblistering to the paintwork but it still retains the original ashtray and the correct aluminium consul to the dashboard. The chromework is excellent and since the completion of the restoration it has completed a mere 4,500 miles in dry weather conditions.
The history file that accompanies this lovely car contains a photographic record of the work together with invoices and MOT's collected over the years and this should be an excellent choice for this summer's motoring.
Please Note: Our engineer noticed that the brakes on this car are sticking.

We owned this FHC 1962 E Type in about 1967. It was white. An excellent car.Last I saw it,was on Clapham Common, London and someone had sprayed it pink. Such a shame. Would love to know if its still around

Bought at Winsford Auctions June 1992, owned until 1997 sold to a dealer friend of Kinsey Jones the then Lotus dealer based in Bury to fund a purchase of a Elise. Had a tendency to overheat, and ran with no thermostat ! had a intermittent cylinder head gasket leak, and a brake fluid leak to rear offside cylinder, horn kept grounding out and as you turned a corner the horn would beep !! Always got through its MOTS '92 to '97.
'She was garaged in Chester very close to the City Centre and with the proliferation of traffic signals you had to time her weekly runs very carefully so as not to get stuck in traffic.

Notable as the 275th RHD E-Type 3.8 Coupe made, chassis 860275 was converted into a Roadster whilst undergoing an extensive refurbishment during the 1980s. Entering the current ownership in 1997, the `home market' two-seater is understood to have covered just 4,600 post-restoration miles with a mere 400 of those being accrued over the last seventeen years. Dry stored for much of that time - aside from the occasional sunny day outing - the Jaguar has recently been treated to a respray, sundry rechroming, brake system overhaul (stripped / checked / cleaned), fluid change and interior retrim etc. The vendor now understandably views the Red bodywork and Black leather upholstery as 'excellent' and the R-prefix 3.8-litre straight-six engine and Moss four-speed manual gearbox as 'very good'. The history file contains plenty of evidence of the work carried out, numerous old MOTs and correspondence with Jaguar Heritage confirming the car's original specification.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
