I have owned this car this since I was 21 and I am now 55 so I thought it was about time that I restored it.

Derek, it appears that your restoration is well underway. I'm currently restoring 1E32208, but am WAY behind you. Please keep us posted of your progress and any other interesting expereriences you've had in 34 years of ownership.

This is the latest on my restoration progress. The bodyshell has been re-aligned to get the panel gaps right and the bonnet has been shimmed and fitted properly.I took it off to the spray bay in June and i have just collected it, i am very pleased with the results and I can now enjoy the best part of the job, the refit.

Well its coming up to 35 years of ownership now and its real nice to see the car back in its original color, I was starting to think I never would. I have the car home now and Im getting ready for the refit. I have had to build an extra work area on my garage just for the job so thats slowed up progress a little. Now have two other E types waiting for work but they'l have to wait.

Derek, the car looks fantastic! I love that color. I see that the paintwork was completed in September. Were you able to get anything done over the winter months? I agree that the refit is the fun part. You have to worry about scratching the new finish, but you can also see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm finally getting back into 1E32208, so I have at least a couple years' worth of work ahead of me. Hopefully you'll be on the road in time for summer and able to post more photos.

Well- I have finally got the car back on the road. July 8th 2010 I took the car out for the first time to have its MOT test, this is a yearly test of road worthiness thats a legal requirement for any vehicle over 3 years old in the UK.
Yes, it passed ok and I proceeded to prepare the car for its first outing which was the Kings Lynn Motor Club 2010 classic car rally on 12th July. The rally started from the visitors centre at the royal estate Sandringham which is about 15 miles from my home and then covered about 60 miles around the surrounding countryside, leading to a lunch stop at a country hotel. After lunch the driver'entrants of which there were 100 were asked to judge all of the cars and pick the best of 3 catagories. we then proceeded through the afternoon to Oxborough Hall in Norfolk for the final gathering and the announcement of the winners. You can imagine my feelings when called to go up and collect the trophy for the best historic car. First time out and the E had made all the work worthwhile, still havent come down, and for all those people to vote for my car was a real pat on the back.
Hope the pictures show what a great day I had.
