Info gathered with permission from:
www.hendi.nl/xke/main.htm

This car was first located by the Register in August of 1976. At that time it was reported to have had four previous owners, and to have been originally delivered with a hardtop and no soft-top. The clasps in the hardtop were not of the early necked-down type. It showed about 45,000 miles, and was still fitted with its original Dunlop RS5 tires, Its windshield wiper motor was dated "2 61 " and its windshield washer motor was dated "2-62" It had double trunk-lid hinges, a center drain hole for the trunk, and had " 136 1 " stamped on the right rear of the interior of the hood (with the "3" upside-down). At that time it was painted light brown. By November of 1982, the car was in south western Michigan, with a new owner, and was reported to have about 19,000 original miles and to be rust free. Later it had an owner who lived in Pennsylvania. By September of 1982, it had changed hands again, and was located in Illinois. The car was advertised in the November 1982 Hemmings Motor News from Illinois, and was described as having "only 19,954 miles shown." It was then red, with a black leather interior and a biscuit top. It was stated to have been "on its original Dunlop tires till this summer (replaced with new Michelins, originals available for inspection)." It was stated to not be in restored condition, but to have been re-painted and have been "carefully gone through to replace the usual item that suffer through age or storage. "

Saw this car for sale in an old "The EJAG News Magazine, Vol. 10 No.7 June 1983":
1961 JAGUAR XKE ROADSTER-Red with black leather. This is the 250th 'E' type
made and is one of the special early outside hood latch cars. In show condition with
only 20,000 miles shown and on its original Dunlop R.S.5 ties till last summer. A very
significant piece of Jaguar history at a bargain price of $ 15,000.00. CONTACT:
Tony Moody in Illinois (This was 24 years ago, looks good at the photo).

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
