Car to be at auction 7/2/11
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 137 - 1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Litre Series I Roadster
    137 - 1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Litre Series I Roadster
    Estimate: £85,000 - £110,000
    Registration Number: TBA
    Chassis Number: 875372

Chassis 875372 is an extraordinarily correct and authentic example of the early E-Type roadster. This particular car is an extremely rare flat floor roadster with outside locking catches and welded louvered panels, being one of only 385 cars built with the same specification. 875372 rolled off the Jaguar production line on the 22nd of August 1961 and was originally supplied to Jaguar Cars, New York and sold new to Mr R.G Grant of Tacoma, Washington and then later resided in California in the 1960s.

The owner reports that the car underwent a very considerable degree of restoration some 15 years ago and was completely stripped and sand blasted. During the rebuild the front suspension was stripped, repaired where necessary and rebuilt. The gearbox was upgraded to a 4 speed all-synchro unit and all bright work was re-chromed. The interior was re-trimmed in tan hide, and the aluminium dash remains in top condition with no scratches or oxidation. All instruments and gauges were re-built and are all in working order.

This genuine left hand drive, matching numbers roadster has recently undergone an engine rebuild since arriving in the UK earlier this year and is supplied with a UK V5 registration document and all EU taxes paid. Contained within the history file are a current MoT certificate valid until March 2012, US title, Heritage Certificate, assorted bills and photographs and a VHS recording of works completed.

One the world's most instantly recognisable, ultimately desirable design icons of the 20th century, this is an exceptionally well sorted example of one of the most highly prized roadsters ever made.

The registration number 38 EE is available for sale by separate negoriation for this vehicle.

    Ebay item 8/20/11
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
    Classified ad price: £99,000.00

    Sellers description:
    1961 Jaguar E Type 3.8 LHD Roadster
    Make: Jaguar
Model: E Type 3.8 Flat Floor External bonnet Lock.
    Year: 1961
    Price: £99,000
    Chassis number 875372
    Engine number R1485-9
Registration number 38EE (Does not go with car, but is available.)

A very rare early E Type with flat floor & outside bonnet Locks. This car was number 372 out of 385 produced of this type. It is an original Left-Hand drive car with its original engine. It is fitted with an all synchromesh gear box.

Shipped new in 1961 this car was sold in New York, but then went immediately to Mr R. G. Grant of Tacoma. It was subsequently in California & then in Florida.

About 10 years ago the car was subjected to a painstaking nut & bolt restoration. Since then it has covered just 4000 miles on dry days only. Underneath every single nut is pristine with not a speck or corrosion or rust on it. There is photographic evidence of both the restoration/engine rebuild etc & also a video.

The car is finished in red with a biscuit leather interior & matching carpets. Under the bonnet the car is minutely detailed & has the appearance of being as new.

On the road the car drives superbly making all the right noises & pulling strongly through the gears. The worn chassis plate was replaced during the restoration, but the original comes with the cars papers.

This is an impeccable example of one of the rarest & most collectable of all E types. We see others for sale at £130-£150K, making this a very very keenly priced example. It is currently owned by an E type aficionado & shares garage space with an assortment of other E Types.

It may be viewed by prior appointment in Orpington, South London. A ramp is present allowing for inspection of the perfect underside.
