I was at a friends shop today, and they had just received a '61 E Type roadster for a complete resto. The car was bought new in the UK, and raced here for several years. It was put back to street configuration, and now needs to be completely re-done, as it's a bit tired. The original owner bought it new in the UK in '61.
It has the welded bonnet, but I don't remember seeing external locks.
It's definitely a flat floor. The guy that owns it now is only the second owner.
Commission No. 875958. Engine R-2418-9, and the body is 2212

I have owned this car since 1971. I am the fourth owner. It was originally purchased by Joe Mulholland of Bloomfield Hills, MI. Joe took european delivery of the car and owned the car for for about 1 year. It was raced during the summer of 1962, and then sold to a friend. The car is currently in the final stages of a complete resstoration.

My late father Wilfred (he was usually called Bill) Chalkley worked for a long period of his life at W M Couper Limited, Motor Garage, Catherine Street, St Albans, Hertfordshire, England, and sold this then new car to Joe Mulholland. At that time Joe lived in Bloomfield Hills, near Detroit, Michigan.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
