Car was at auction 11/2011

Auction description:
Registration: ANU 74A
Chassis Number: 876856
Engine Number: RA 4464-9
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3800
Year of Manufacture: 1962
Sold for (£): Unsold
This car is an early (1962) Series 1 fixed head coupe with the original Moss gearbox and is offered in a refreshingly unmolested and unmodified format.

Finished in Carmen red with a sand beige leather upholstery, this is an early car that has avoided any upgrades or modifications. Imported from the USA in 1991 and converted to right hand drive, the car has had just 3 UK owners since.

Benefitting from a recent set of tyres, battery and stainless exhaust, the bodywork and chassis appear rust free as one would expect from a car that spent it's earlier life in sunnier climes. It now drives and presents extremely well with good oil pressure (hot and cold) and the vendor assures us it has had regular use, prooving to be reliable and fun. Guided sensibly, this car offers real value for money in the year of the E-Type's fiftieth celebration.

» “The FIA version of the Jaguar E-Type has been successfully racing on circuits all around the world. Here's the most famous, most efficient and most successful of them all!”

Our Jaguar 3.8 l Roadster was produced on March 7, 1962 and delivered to the American distributor in New York on April 4, 1962. Before its total transformation, the car was Opalescent Silver Blue with a red leather interior and a navy blue convertible top (certificate Jaguar Heritage Trust). A livery of great elegance for one of the most beautiful drawings of the 1960s… Upon his arrival in Europe, his life will change completely to become hands of its owner the best prepared Jaguar E-Type, the the most efficient, the most victorious but also the best known thanks to its livery setting it apart from the rest of the board. It is to the French pilot Jean-Pierre Lajournade that we owe it preparation of this extraordinary Type E. To put back things in context, JP Lajournade lready displays a solid track record between Coupe Renault Elf Gordini from 1975 that he won in 1978, Formula Renault within the Elf teams and Motul in 1980 and 1981 then after a professional career well filled, an impressive track record both in Asavé that at the Tour Auto where he has 3 victories in the general classification, 5 second places and 1 third place! So after having won the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo in 2010 at the wheel of his Lotus Elan 26R facing more powerful competitors, it will be worn buyer in 2013 of the car that we are presenting to you from the famous English preparer Denis Welsh. Today, there are many semi-lightweight Jaguar Type E Roadsters on historic sets, and it is to this example that we owe the craze and the rise in power of the model to the highest steps of the podiums!

This semi-lightweight Jaguar E-Type Roadster is the first developed at Matter Compétition in Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt. In accordance with regulations, its monocoque is made of steel, dressed with a hood, a hard top, a trunk and doors in aluminum, but the experience of Matter is not to be demonstrated and the body reinforcements are optimized to stiffen the whole. The mechanics are entrusted to the English preparer Denis Welch. The whole engine part of course, but also the box gears, the bridge and the rear axle. Assembly of the car will be provided by the team that has been following the driver for over 30 years,

all former Renault F1… In the end, the bodywork represents more than 440 hours of work, its weight has decreased of 215 kg (1,060 kg) and the mechanics develop nearly 380 hp coupled to a 4-speed gearbox entirely synchronized. The project was completed in February 2015, it is then the only Jaguar Type E semi-lightweight roadster designed and built in France at the time…

The victory will not be long in coming because from the month of April, the car is entered in the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo which it will win hands down. Affirming her supremacy a little more, she will win the event again the following year in front of the AC Cobra by Ludovic Caron. His track record does not stop there, Because we will find her at the Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or, at Spa-Classic, at the Dix-Milles Tours or at the Historic Pau Grand Prix… always at the forefront, making it one of the most popular cars most efficient and reliable on the historical scene. Symbol of its superiority, it is the first Jaguar Type E Roadster semi-lightweight to win the Tour Auto, the only one to have it won… three times!

In 2023, the car is entrusted to another experienced driver, already winner in the French and European championship in history at the wheel of a Porsche or at the Tour Auto in the GHI category. Wanting to win the general classification (VHC), he acquires this Jaguar Type E and entrusts it to its preparer, Crubilé Sport in Gazeran in the 78. In the meantime, Peter Auto aligned with international FIA regulations and the block cast iron engine gave way to an aluminum block. THE weight gain is 37 kg on the front axle, the Type E is unrecognizable thanks to steering that has become more flexible, the car is playful and much more nervous. The verdict is not will not wait and a third victory will be won with a nice head start in Biarritz.
