This 1962 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster is a left-hand-drive example that was delivered new to Rhodesia and later imported to the US in 1970s. The car was reportedly the subject of a cosmetic refurbishment in the 1990s that included a repaint in red over a re-trimmed black interior. Mechanical refurbishment in 2019 disassembling and resealing the 3.8-liter inline-six, resealing the four-speed manual transmission, rebuilding the steering rack and carburetors, installing an aluminum radiator and an electronic ignition conversion kit, and replacing the rear suspension mounts, ball joints, clutch, and clutch hydraulic cylinders. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, a heater, and a limited-slip differential. The current owner purchased the car in 2018 and has since added approximately 4k miles. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, service records since 2019, and a Connecticut registration document.

This example was originally finished in Carmen Red and was reportedly refinished in the 1990s. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint chips, scratches, and bubbles are visible.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in 2023. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the brake hoses were replaced in 2019, at which time the steering rack was rebuilt. The seller states the upper and lower ball joints and the rear suspension mounts were replaced, as well.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include textured aluminum dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The fuel-level gauge was replaced in 2019.

The engine was removed, disassembled, and resealed in 2019, at which time the connecting rods, oil pump, timing chains, freeze plugs, and camshafts were replaced and the carburetors were rebuilt.

The cylinder head stamp reads R4342-8, which corresponds to the engine number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration, which refers to the car as a 1963 model.
