    This car is available for sale in New Zealand on the Trademe sales website with the following listing

    The inspiration for (NZ Registration KMG23) came from the 1962 Cunningham Le Mans E Types and the 1961 semi-lightweight E Types that Jaguar built in the same period. Jaguar’s chief designer, Claude Baily, asked on the 16th March 1961 that the production department build seven factory prepared right-hand drive roadsters to competition specification.

    Key Modifications for the semi-lightweight were;

    Retain the basic steel monocoque, but replace the following areas with aluminium body panels

    - All aluminium boot floor, passenger compartment floor,

    - Aluminium boot lid with vent,

    - Aluminium doors,

    - Aluminium bonnet,

    - Aluminium fuel tank with external quick release filler,

    - Perspex side windows with pull up mechanism,

    - lightweight Dunlop alloy wheels,

    - Free flow exhaust manifold in stainless steel,

    - Aluminium radiator,

    - Balanced engine, big valves and D Type camshafts,

    - Triple 45 DCOE Weber carburettors

    KMG23 was painstakingly restored to the semi-lightweight specifications above. This car has never been raced and would be a joy for a Jaguar enthusiast to own. The E Type complies with FIA homologation papers 34 and 100.

    This is a rare opportunity to purchase such an exciting Jaguar E Type

    The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

    What disease did Lucas succumb to?
