    Auction description:

    CHASSIS NO: 878014
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $132,000

The example we are pleased to offer is a spectacular matching numbers 1963 Jaguar 3.8 liter Series I XKE Roadster. Having undergone a complete, no expense spared restoration to the highest degree by Jaguar specialists Classic Showcase, the XKE displays a quality of craftsmanship and fit rarely seen. Every component has been rebuilt or replaced not only to be flawless but to be factory correct as well.

The 3.8-liter engine was rebuilt to factory specifications with new pistons, bearings, valves, guides, seals, and timing chain. The intake system was completely rebuilt and a new exhaust system was installed. The drivetrain was completely rebuilt which included a new clutch, a full rebuild of the transmission, balancing the drive shaft, and a rebuilt rear end. Additionally, new shocks and brakes were fitted and all the electrical components, gauges, knobs and switches were rebuilt, re-screened or replaced as needed. The entire fuel delivery system was restored which included an epoxy sealed gas tank, a rebuilt fuel pump, new lines and rebuilt carburetors.

The aesthetic side of the restoration was just as thorough as the mechanical side. The body was stripped, fitted, repainted in dark blue, then color sanded and buffed. The top bows and seat frames were powder coated. New rubber seals and grommets and gaskets were installed. All the trim and brightwork has been replaced or re-plated. The gray interior is all-new, including the carpet, panels, dash and seats.

Still fresh from the restoration, having been driven less than 100 miles for test purposes, it is with confidence that we say this is one of the finest examples for sale in the world today. With all matching numbers, a Jaguar Heritage Certificate of Authenticity and a DVD movie documenting the restoration process included in the sale of the car, nothing about this E-Type is left to question.

Overall, this is a near perfect car in a lovely color combination. In its current condition it is fully useable on the road and show field and it will undoubtedly prove to be a winner at future JCNA concours events around the country.
