    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $20,300.00 (Reserve not met), 8 bids, 9 days left in auction, 38k miles on the odo. Car is now red with tan interior but apparently was originally cream or golden sand with red interior.

    Sellers comment:
    1963 Series l E-Type roadster; one of 3,796 LHD Series l (3.8 liter) roadsters built between 1961 and 1964.

This E-Type, sn 878500, was delivered to it's first owner at the Jaguar Cars LTD factory, Coventry, England (documentation provided) on December 14, 1962. It has always been a desert automobile through all three owners.

    Vehicle Condition
Red Series 1 E-type is in good condition mechanically and structurally ( NDH, no rust and good paint).

It is driven regularly (50+ psi oil pressure at 70 degrees C operating temperature) and has had scheduled maintenance and many components rebuilt, to include cylinder head/valve train inspection and rebuild, carburetor rebuild and sychronization, rebuilt brakes, inspected and resealed rear end, tachometer restored, new tachometer generator, upgraded cooling system to include larger radiator core, auxilary fan and new hoses. Engine should have front and rear main seals replaced if buyer intends on using car as daily driver. All gauges, except clock, are operational and (factory installed)radio is functional. Needs new carpet and top.

Original tool kit, owner's manual, repair and mainentance manual, and two spare chrome wire wheels. Tonneau cover included.

Many documents, ie. factory papers establishing provenance, are included.

Sorry for the repetitive comments above! I guess things went haywire while I was trying to leave something worth reading! In any event, the car is a very nice running machine and the oil pressure and temperatures are very stable and well within normal operating limits. Has a very strong engine and very low original mileage with
all factory documentation from date of manufacture. Although not a show car at this
point and time, it runs quite well and delivers impressive performance and is a pure
joy to drive and be seen in! It still generates many positive comments and turns many heads while out for a drive. I have had people make offers to buy the car while
I have been wiating at traffic signals, but somehow I haven't found myself in any big hurry to accept any of these offers as yet and I prefer to enjoy the car for now!
At the time of this writing, I have installed the correct exhaust resonators for the year
of manufacture and will focus my attention on replacing the entire upholstery.

    Car returns to ebay 9/16/05
www.xkedata.com and looking up chassis number 878500.

The car has recently received (less than 200 miles ago!) a fresh generator and voltage regulator, and can be driven on a daily basis if desired. It has the typical oil leaks associated with most British cars of the era and comes with oil drip pans as part of the package as well.

If you can actually say that any British car or motorcycle of this era does not leak to some extent, then you had better be doubly careful as it most likely has no oil in it at all!

This particular car was bought by a U.S. Air Force officer in late 1962 and I also have the Western Union telegram from the dealership in London, England confirming the intent to buy the car. The original owner went to England and accepted delivery in person and drove the car in England for the first 500 miles and had its first service performed there and that is also in the documents as well.

The car typically runs between 50-55 PSI of oil pressure when hot and idles at 40 PSI. The water temperature runs between 70-75 degrees Celsius and is quite stable even in the Las Vegas summertime heat. Those of you who know the E-Type Jaguar know how crucial these two factors are and the engine on this car is quite tight and runs very smoothly and is quite strong.

The car does not smoke when first started, or at any time and does not suffer from excessive oil consumption. The sound that this car produces is one of the many satisfying and enjoyable characteristics of this car and you will not be disappointed in it at all!

The extensive parts inventory contains literally hundreds of very rare and valuable items that include complete intake and exhaust systems, subframe components, chrome and other interior and body parts, a recently overhauled full-synchromesh transmission with "0" time since overhaul (I have the shop receipts to prove it!) and a brand new, still in the box, 5-speed transmission and flywheel from Classic Jaguar in Austin, Texas.

The list of items is quite extensive and I cannot reasonably print it up in exact detail as it would take several people a couple of days to inventory and catalog each item, but, the good news is that the car can be inspected along with the inventory, by appointment, prior to sale.

Needless to say, the title is in my name, the car is currently registered and insured for full appraised value, is run regularly, and is exempted from smog tests in most states, so you don't have to sweat the pollution control issues as there simply are none to deal with for this car.

Not shown, but also included in the sale, is the optional factory removable hardtop and it is presently in a large wooden crate for safekeeping, as is a complete IRS (independent rear suspension) unit, and several other of the heavier components in this auction.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a fine example of a solid, driver quality E-type and have your own personal parts store as well!

    Vehicle Description

FOR THE MOST DISCERNING AND DEDICATED E-TYPE JAGUAR ENTHUSIAST ONLY!
For sale is a very straight and mechanically original 1963 Series 1 E-Type Jaguar roadster and a very large and comprehensive spare parts inventory that is enviable in its scope.

The car is a very rare example of a rust free and damage free vehicle that has virtually all of its original factory issued letters of provenance, factory manuals, tools, jack, and other periodic literature when the car was first manufactured in Foleshill, Coventry, England, and also comes with a certificate of mechanical originality, save for a better electric cooling fan installed in front of the radiator, but virtually unseen when the bonnet is opened! The original two-bladed electric cooling fan is still installed and in place, so from all appearances, it is original, and no other form of restoration has been accomplished on this car, other than the fact that the paint and interior are not original color.

There are several other pictures readily available for this car and you can access them by going directly to the dedicated E-Type Jaguar website at www.xkedata.com and looking up chassis number 878500. I only happen to have a couple of jpg. pictures on hand and it will be easier for you to get a better overview of what I have described so far.

Just so there is no confusion, this is going to be an all or nothing auction, and I am not going to entertain any trades, swaps, or other partial trade/cash offers. This car is very nice and is sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied for either the car or any of the parts in the inventory, as many are original factory new items, and many are not and I cannot be held responsible for the overall condition of each and every item in this stock of spare parts.

It goes without saying that there will be the usual folks out there in E-Bayland who want to bombard me with many questions and talk over the telephone for long periods of time, and then not so much as place a serious bid! So I will ask politely that you do not waste my time or yours if you do not have the wherewithal to actually pay for the car and the parts that are on offer in this auction. I'm sure that you would hope for the same courtesy if you were selling something like this yourself. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a fine example of a solid, driver quality E-type and have your own personal parts store as well!

I can be contacted for any and all questions at my regular e-mail address and will respond as soon as possible to your inquiries. I can be reached at bobmyers25@hotmail.com and I would also appreciate it if you would also leave an e-mail address and a local telephone number where you can be reached if you want to talk to me personally.

Just so people know I am serious and to help separate the serious enthusiasts from the dreamers, the bidding will begin at $35,000.00 and go up from there. If I happen to get the "Buy it now" price, the car will also be shipped to any location in the United States as part of the deal, up to a total allowance of $1,000.00, but you will have to make your own arrangements for transport of the spare parts inventory that accompanies this auction.

A $2,000.00 non-refundable deposit will be required within 72 hours after the auction ends and the buyer must contact me within 24 hours after the auction ends to discuss the shipping arrangements and any other details.

Thanks in advance for your interest and questions and I will try my best to answer them as quickly as possible. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time due to local sale and cancel any bids from people who have bid on my previous auctions and have not been serious in their intent to win the auction, but have run up the bids for others who were serious to the point that they lost interest and gave up. To those who are serious and bid wisely, please accept my finest regards in advance, whether or not you are the high bidder. I really appreciate your offers and consideration in this special opportunity and look forward to hearing from you.

    REVISION:

On Sep-23-05 at 23:46:57 PDT, seller added the following information:

Since I am trying to sell this fine item to a serious buyer, I may entertain an offer that is close to the reserve price and take a possible best offer if there is anyone out there in E-Bayland that is serious and wants to take home the gold.
I have already substantially lowered the price in order to try and get some more bids up and generate some more interest, but I am not going to cut my own throat in the process.

For those who want to ask me what the new reserve is and want to ask me questions that are not relevant the the sale of the car, all I will say is place a serious bid and then ask, as I am growing tired of the &QA sessions and dealing with the dreamers again.

As I mentioned in the beginning of the auction, serious bidders only. That is why I have the private listing option so that I deal directly with a potential buyer.

If you want to make me a serious offer, contact me via e-mail before the auction ends and I can arrange to sell it to you through E-Bay and all will be on the up and up and legitimate. Please don't be shy to make a serious offer as you may just be pleasantly surprised if I accept it and you will be the winner! Since I am going this far, I will still ship the car to you, but again, you will be responsible for the entire inventory of parts and this will take some effort to load and transport to your location.

All I can say now is best of luck to the successful bidder who has the brass, guts, and the cash to practically steal a great car and a serious inventory of great parts to go with it!

    Once again on Ebay.
The last paragraph he wrote is pretty funny.

    Vehicle Description

For sale is a very decent 1963 Series 1 E-Type roadster that has only 39,200 original miles on it and runs very smoothly and strong. The car is in good driving condition and has no rust as it has spent its entire life since being shipped from England in the dry climate of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The car also comes with virtually all of its original factory letters of provenance and original tool kit and factory service manuals, which are all in excellent condition.

The car was originally white with red leather, but was painted several years ago and has tan hides in the cockpit. The engine starts easily and runs very well and has no trace of smoke or excessive oil consumption, save for the typical leaks associated with cars of the period. Oil pressure is 55 PSI hot and water temperature averages 70-75 degree celsius, even in the hot climate of the Las Vegas summertime heat.

I have only two photos of the car handy, but if you are willing to go the dedicated E-Type website at www.xkedata.com and look up chassis number 878500, you will get a better view of the car and some of the original documentation. I also have a certificate of originality that was derived from the Jaguar factory archives less than a year ago and that comes with the car as well.

The real bonus in this auction is not just the car, but a very large and extensive spare parts inventory that would rival some of the best British spare parts houses in its scope and range of items, both new and used, all of which are in new or serviceable condition.

There are at least 2 transmissions, 1 of them a recently overhauled full-synchromesh unit that I have the receipts for to prove what was done, and 1 complete IRS unit and another differential with the rare European axle ratio of 3.31:1 which has similarly been rebuilt.

Not shown in the pictures is the optional factory removable hardtop and it also comes with this auction as part of the deal. Some of the hardtops sell for as much as $5,000.00 if you find them in good condition!

To encourage serious bidders, I have set a very reasonable reserve and will offer a firm buy it now price as well as having the option to end the bidding early for a serious offer. You will never find a rust free car like this with no damage history anywhere in the world for this price that includes a virtual warehouse of excellent spare parts, some of which are difficult to find anywhere on the market.

I will not accept any offers from third party bidders or agents, nor will I accept any offers from dealers, as I have had too much difficulty in recent times with scam artists who want to play all sorts of games and not actually buy the car. I am not interested, nor will I accept any trades or partial trades as this sale is predicated on a cash basis only.

I have most, if not all of the receipts in my archives to document exactly what is in the inventory and how much I have spent to build the inventory to its present size, and the totals for that surpass $56,000.00 alone just for the parts! This information will be made available to the successful buyer upon request after the intial deposit has been secured and may take a day or two to retrieve from my files.

You are free to e-mail me with your questions, but please don't waste my time or yours if you are dreaming of a desperation sale as this is not the case. I am offering a rare chance to have a very solid and reliable Series 1 roadster for a very good price and more spare parts than one may even conceive of as part of the entire package.

My e-mail address is bobmyers25@hotmail.com and my local telephone number in Las Vegas is (702) 435-1816. In the event that you do call and I am not there, please leave a message and a telephone number (no mobile phones please!) where you can be contacted and the best time to reach you.

As a bonus, if the sale price exceeds $82,500.00, I will include free shipping of the car itself to any of the lower 48 States and that is worth quite a bit in itself! You will have to provide the means to pick up the parts inventory and pay the shipping fees to your location though and you will need a fairly large storage area to be able to properly keep the parts out of the elements and in good condition and ready for use or resale if you prefer.

I reserve the right to sell the car locally and cancel the bidding at any time if I get a firm offer to my liking and receive a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.00 through PayPal within 24 hours of accepting an solid offer. What I want to make clear is that if you are a serious bidder and live in the real world and actually expect to pay for the things you really want, then I can entertain a serious offer if you are ready to buy immediately and do not want to play games.

To weed out the lightweights and dreamers, the car along with the parts inventory will have a starting bid of $49,000.00 and a buy it now price of $84,000.00. It is up to the serious players to begin the bidding, and please remember, if I like your bid, I may just accept it and cancel the bidding immediately and you will take home the gold and the entire kingdom!

You will have to help me by being willing to go to the website I mentioned earlier and look at the pictures yourself and see if you have what it takes to be the winner of this great chance to own a solid driver level car and your own parts inventory as well! Good luck to all and happy bidding!

PLEASE BID AND BE REALISTIC! THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH! THOSE WITH BALLS WILL GET WHAT THEY DAMNED WELL PLEASE AS THEY PLEASE! DON'T BE SHY AS I MAY JUST BE IN A GENEROUS MOOD AND TAKE A DECENT OFFER AND END THE AUCTION EARLY!
