Delivered new to California, this Series I E-Type has had subsequent owners in Georgia, Ohio and Florida. Since the 1980s, the car has had significant work performed on the mechanical systems, body and paint, most recently in March 2011. The list of restoration tasks is long and includes a complete repaint in Signal Red, re-plating of all chrome, a new interior and trunk lining, new tinted side glass and seals, new fuel tank, pump and lines and a new forward wiring harness.

Performance upgrades include K&N air filters, an alternator, Ron Davis aluminum race radiator and fan, Pertonix ignition system, Dayton center-laced wire wheels, Osborne knock-offs and a high performance flywheel. The gearbox was replaced with one from a 4.2-liter car, with synchro first gear. The suspension was completely rebuilt, and new Wilwood front calipers and Classic Jaguar drilled rotors were fitted, while the rear calipers were re-sleeved by White Post Restorations. Classic Jaguar billet-end adjustable shock absorbers were fitted all around. All original parts were retained and will accompany the car to its new owner.

The car has been a consistent show winner since 2005, including Best of Show and Best in Class at that year's Jaguar Club of Florida concours and First Place and People's Choice at the inaugural Roar n' Soar event at Fantasy of Flight at Polk City, Florida in 2007. It has earned four Spirit Awards from Festival of Speed and was First in Class and Best of Show at the 2010 Jaguar Club of South Florida event. The Jaguar Clubs of North America deemed it the South East Champion in Class S03 for modified cars in 2007 and North America Champion in 2010. Honors in 2011 include Excellence in Class at the Cavallino Sports Car Sunday, selection as "My Favorite Jaguar" by Bob Tullius at the Lake Mirror Classic in October and Best in Class and the E-Type 50th Anniversary Tribute Award at the Festival of Speed in November. A demonstrated prize-winner, this E-Type is undoubtedly one of the most attractive in today's market.

This 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster was built December 5, 1962 and dispatched December 19th through Jaguar Cars, New York. It was delivered new in California with subsequent residency in Georgia, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Since the 1980s, this Roadster has been restored and has been won Best of Show and Best in Class in events including the Jaguar Club of Florida Concours, Roar n' Soar, Festival of Speed, Cavallino Classic XXI, Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance, Lake Mirror Classic, and was the JCNA South East and North America Champion (Class S03). It is powered by a numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox from a later 4.2-liter car, while the correct transmission is also included. Other upgrades are detailed below and this Jaguar is now offered with a Heritage Trust certificate, restoration pictures, its original books, all factory accessories, and a clean Texas title in the selling dealer's name.

Photos provided by the seller document the car inside and out. Exterior cosmetics including the panel gaps, brightwork, and trim appear to be in good condition. A stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted as seen above. The fully detailed trunk is shown in the photo gallery and contains its original and complete tool roll including a grease gun, the jack, and a Thor hammer in its sleeve.

The tan soft top is accompanied by a matching boot. 15″ Dayton center-laced wire wheels with Osborne knock-offs are shod in whitewall BFGoodrich Silvertown radial tires. Wilwood front calipers and Classic Jaguar drilled rotors were fitted, while the rear calipers were re-sleeved by White Post Restorations. Classic Jaguar billet-end adjustable shock absorbers are mounted all around.

This is a desirable spear-seat car with its early aluminum center console in place. Following the restoration, all upholstery, carpeting, trim, and accessories appear to be present and in good order.

The later 4-speed gearbox from a 4.2-liter car is said to shift well with a 1st gear synchro and high-performance flywheel. The numbers-matching original transmission is also included with the sale. The odometer shows 73,120 miles and is believed to be correct based on the known history and documentation.

The 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine has been modernized with an newer alternator, aluminum radiator/fan, and a Pertonix ignition system. A compression test was recently performed, showing consistent numbers in all cylinders.

Engine number stamping is shown as R9112-9 and matches the Heritage Trust certificate. The correct chassis number is also shown in the photo gallery, corroborating the engine as original to the car.
