Car to be at auction 9/11
www.bonhams.com/usa/auction/19385/lot/715/

Auction description:
Sale 19385 - Fairfield Concours d'Elegance, Exceptional Collectors' Motorcars and Automobilia, 17 Sep 2011 to 18 Sep 2011
Connecticut, Westport

Lot No: 715•
Barn discovery
1963 Jaguar E Type 3.8 Liter Roadster
Chassis no. 879060
Engine no. RA 1138-9
According to Jaguar Heritage archives car # 879060 was dispatched to through Peter Lindner's distribution chain in Frankfurt, Germany on March 4, 1963. It was one of the rare left hand models not to have made it to North America and for that reason it benefited from the increased compression ratio of 9:1 over those cars supplied to the U.S. Optioned in arguably the most sought after color combination of Opalescent Gunmetal with red leather the first owner enjoyed the car for several years before the car made its way to the United States in the late 1960's. Early in 1971 the car found its way to Connecticut where the current owner took possession of the XKE and remained its custodian for the next 40 years. The Jaguar today is a remarkably original and unmolested example sitting properly on original wide white bias ply tires.

This is a fleeting opportunity to acquire an early, matching number, 3.8 liter E Type Roadster, unique, one year only, patterned aluminum console (1963) and restore it to the original (beautiful) color and that Jaguar which chose for the car they originally debuted the model at the Geneva in 1961.

Estimate: US$30,000 - 40,000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
