This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that is said to have been brought from Ohio to Nevada in 2003 and was acquired in 2010 by its previous owner, who passed away in 2020. The car was refinished in white over black leather under previous ownership, and power is from a numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a Moss four-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes a soft top, chrome wire wheels, and triple SU carburetors. This Series I E-Type is offered on dealer consignment with a clean Nevada title.

The current white finish is believed to be a respray applied under previous ownership, and the selling dealer reports evidence of dent repair on the nose. Blemishes are visible on the lower bodywork along with dents in the right rear quarter panel.

Chrome wire wheels are fixed with two-eared knock-off nuts and wear Coker Classic tires. Four-wheel brakes are mounted outboard at the front and inboard at the rear. The black soft top is said to be a replacement and stows behind the front seats when folded.

Shell-backed bucket seats wear replacement black leather upholstery fitted under previous ownership. Textured aluminum accents the center console and instrument panel. Corrosion is noted on the hinges and lower door edges.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a padded black dash housing Smiths instruments including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline and integrated clock, and auxiliary gauges. The tachometer, speedometer, and five-digit odometer are inoperative, with the latter stopped at 7k miles. Actual mileage is unknown.

The numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and dual overhead camshafts, and was rated at 265 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque when new. Oil leaks are noted by the selling dealer.

The Moss four-speed manual gearbox features synchromesh on its top three gears. Corrosion is noted on the exhaust and suspension components.

Factory identifications numbers are stamped on the data plate pictured above, and correspond to numbers stamped on the head, engine block, and front frame member.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
