Sellers comment:
This 1964 Series I Jaguar XKE 3.8 Liter Roadster. The car looks to be very original. We had to purchase this car & a 1962 XKE coupe inorder to purchase the 1963 Corvette Split window which I wanted as I like to collect corvettes so that's why I'm selling the 2 XKEs. The gentleman we purchased these cars from over a year ago said these cars were garaged kept and pampered. I have no reason to doubt him as the condition of the cars were almost totally rust free. He says that the 71,000 miles on the odometer is actual, but I don't have any way to verify that statement. The previous owner said that the restoration company lost/misplaced some parts/items during the restoration, but estimated that he believed it was 98% complete but all these parts are available from Jaguar anyways. Have many new parts such as a voltage regulator, washer jar, weatherstripping, brake bellows, etc. A complete ground-up restoration had been begun when my two friends and I purchased these cars. I will try to describe it: (1)The engine has been rebuilt; (2)The tub is rust free and doesn't look to have had to have any repairs; (3)The only rust found is inside the hood/nose, the sheet metal between the two headlamps and only visible if the headlamps are out or the hood/nose is up- this is a very easy repair; (4)The drive train and gauges are in the car and ready to go; (5)THIS CAR IS READY TO BE BLOCKED, PAINTED AND INTERIOR INSTALLED! This car also boasts its original Jaguar spoke wheels, soft top and detachable hard top! I also believe this car to be an original numbers matching car as I have verified that the engine block # and head #'s match! This I've been told is the most difficult numbers to match as the heads were often replaced with off the shelf heads when they needed to be repaired. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to restore an early classic 3.8L Roadster, that isn't a rust bucket, for a moderate investment and restore it at their own pace and to whatever level they desire, whether that be a driver or a show car. The car is sold as-is. The car is physically located in Ft. Walton Beach Florida.

12/21/04 car listed as being under restoration at:
www.thecarnut.com/Jag64White.html
This seller is located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Description:
1964 Jaguar E-type roadster

VIN number: 880465
Cream with red interior

This is a matching engine number series 1 3.8 roadster with a superb rust free body. I have seen other rust free cars, but
never one so pristine as this one! I am doing this one to show condition. The engine subframe was removed and powder
coated, all bushings will be replaced, the paint has been stripped to bare metal and will be repainted in its original cream (Old
English white) colo. Interior will be in its original deep red color.

When done it will be like buying a new Jaguar E-type.

Price: TBD

Car is for sale in restored condition $ 124.000 at thecarnut.com

Over a period of three years I have been restoring this 1964 e-type roadster for myself. I have kept a blog which shows the
extended of the restoration. My intent was to keep it but now that it is almost done I am thinking of selling it and using the
money to restore the 1959 Maserati Vignale spyder prototype which I acquired last year.
This car is not inexpensive but it will cost you much less than if you embark in your own restoration. Trust me when I say that
this one was a no-expense spared restoration; even after I put in many, many hours of my labor.
The car has a Jaguar Heritage Certificate documenting its authenticity. My goal was to restore it to "better than new", show
condition, but at the same time make it a car that can be driven. The engine subframe and suspension were removed and
powder coated, all mechanicals were redone, the body was stripped to bare metal and painted in its original cream (Old
English white) color. Interior in its original deep red color.
While keeping the car original some key improvements were done. Teflon seals where used through the original engine to
avoid the notorious Jaguar engine oil leaks. The radiator looks stock but in reality it is much more efficient than the original.
The ignition is electronic and completely invisible to a concours judge. The gearbox is the full synchro version from a later 4.2,
which was coupled to the 3.8 liter engine using the original bell housing and starter. This provides the perfect match between
the higher revving 3.8 liter engine and the smoother shifting of the full synchro gearbox. Again a concourse judge would
never be able to tell, unless he drove the car and didn't have to grind first gear!
I still need to have the soft top installed and I want to enjoy the car this spring. Car will be available for purchase in April 2008.

Price: $124,000
