This 1964 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was produced on December 6, 1963 and is finished in Opalescent Gunmetal over a red leather interior. Power comes from a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a black soft top, three SU carburetors, and chrome wire wheels. A cosmetic refurbishment was performed during prior ownership, and following the current owner’s acquisition in 2019 the front frame was refinished, the clutch components were replaced, and the fuel, ignition, cooling, braking, and suspension systems were serviced. This Series I XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Kentucky with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, manuals, and a clean Kentucky title.
The body was refinished in its factory color of Opalescent Gunmetal during prior ownership according to the seller, and it is paired with a black soft top. Additional exterior details include chrome bumpers and trim, glass headlight covers, a louvered hood, Talbot mirrors, and polished central exhaust outlets. The seller notes delamination on portions of the windshield.
Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and wear 205/75 Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. A matching spare wheel fitted with an older Dunlop whitewall tire is stored in the rear compartment, and the rebuilt braking system is managed by four-wheel discs.
Red leather upholstery is accompanied by matching door panels, console trim, and carpeting. Lap and shoulder belts are provided for both occupants, and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts factory Smiths instrumentation.
Controls, switchgear, and Smiths instrumentation are shown further in the photo gallery below. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under present ownership.
The 3.8-liter XK inline-six is equipped with a trio of SU carburetors that were rebuilt according to the seller, and the cylinder head was repainted. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission equipped with replacement clutch components and resurfaced flywheel. Additional work completed within the past two years included refinishing the frame and firewall, rebuilds of the brake and clutch hydraulics, heater box, wiper motor, and steering box as well as replacement of the following components:
Engine stabilizer bushings
Exhaust manifolds
Wiring harness
Battery, voltage regulator, and coil
Cam cover and oil pan gaskets
Ignition wires
Cooling fan
Front suspension shocks, ball joints, bearings, and bushings
Cylinder-head stamping RA4454-9 is shown above and matches the engine number noted on the chassis identification plate and on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date in December 1963 and lists original colors, equipment, engine number, and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.
