Sellers description:
1964 Jaguar 3.8 Litre XKE Roadster. This is a complete numbers matching 3.8 litre roadster placed in storage in 1996 due to the poor health and eventual passing of the long time owner. The Jaguar is in very nice overall condition for an unrestored car with fair paint and interior. The engine numbers match the Jaguar Heritage Certificate which also states the car was originally delivered to Jaguar Cars in New York in Opalescent Dark Blue Metallic with dark blue leather interior and top, a great color combination for early E-Types. The car was repainted dark red and the interior changed to black many years ago. The body is sound with very nice floors, sills and boot floor as the photos show, with only minor micro blistering at the lower edge of the doors and slight pin holes in the forward most drivers footwell. The transmission tunnel has been cut out and reattached probably due to a driveline problem which was attended to without engine/gearbox removal as normal. The engine turns over freely but no attempt has been made to start and drive the car as all brake/clutch hydraulics as well as fuel, ignition and cooling systems would require refurbishment to make roadworthy. These tasks should be quite easily accomplished allowing the successful bidder to enjoy as is, or the car would be a rare find to perform a comprehensive restoration without the agony of a body restoration with massive rust repair. At some time in the cars past the generator was removed and an alternator fitted, and the anemic two blade cooling fan was removed in favor of an electric unit.
