Ebay item 6/6/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1964-Jaguar-Series-One-XKE-Roadster-/14041 ...
Car has a buy it now price of $89,500 for 20 days. Car now said to be located in Murrieta, California.
Sellers description:
1964 JAGUAR SERIES ONE XKE Roadster. This car is absolutely exquisite and as near to perfection as you would dare have it and still be able to drive it on those very special occasions. It is black with a concours red Connolly leather interior from OSJI, with a black Haartz canvas top. The paint is ebony black in color and is PPG base/clear that has been wet sanded and polished to mirror like perfection. The body of this car is as straight and wave free as a Jaguar of this caliber should be. All chrome is triple chrome plated with no waves or pitting anywhere and is in perfect condition. This car has never had any rust issues of any kind and is collision free. The odometer shows 36,000 miles and based upon the cars condition prior to freshening it up is totally believable as its actual original mileage. The original DUNLOP ROADSPEED spare tire is in good condition and still remains in the spare tire compartment. I am a long time collector and have owned a total of five series one XKE roadsters throughout the years and this one is the best of all of them. It starts quickly even after sitting for a month or more and it runs, drives and shifts like a new car. This truly has to be one of the best running series one Jaguars out there. There are no squeaks or rattles in this car and the feeling of its solidness and tightness when driven bears evidence to its low mileage.
The engine starts and runs out perfectly with 60 pounds of oil pressure at starting and after being driven at operating temperature never delivers less than 50 pounds of oil pressure. It is tight and not noisy. The clutch and transmission are quiet and operate smoothly and perfectly. I have installed a pertronix breakerless ignition system which outwardly looks original but makes a significant difference in the way the car runs and performs at high RPMs. It has also been fitted with a high performance heavy duty radiator and high output multi blade cooling fan. The engine shows like a jewel with fresh porcelainizing on the exhaust manifold as well as the brilliant shine on all the aluminum components aside from the fore mentioned minor changes the car remains original as prescribed by JCNA standards. This car is an absolute joy to drive. It is one of the best series one roadsters bar none. This color combination of black with a red interior is very rare and the most striking in my opinion. The fit and detail on this car is superb as you would expect. The instruments are all original, are perfect and all work. The toggle switches once again are original with perfect chrome and plastic. If you were to purchase an unrestored E-type series one roadster in solid restorable condition with no rust, major body work, or major mechanical issues you would have to pay in excess of $38,000 to $40,000 for a car with good integrity. You would then spend a minimum of $70,000 to get it restored to driver quality standards. This car is far beyond driver quality and Jaguars are not inexpensive to restore. The end result to all this is that at this point that car would not be as solid or have the integrity this one has.
