In response to the above. It is obvious from the photos that this is not a 2 owner car, original paint with 38k miles!

The car has been professionally restored to its original condition (converted to RHD) and we can confirm it is a matching numbers car fitted with a 5 speed gearbox (the original Moss Box comes with the car). The colour has been changed to Opalescent Light Blue with a Grey Interior.

Description

At Car-iconics we are always a little wary when a car has been totally restored, as we often find cost cutting underneath the shiny paintwork.

Chassis 881349 is a late 3.8 E-type and a best example of how a restoration should be done. The selection of appropriate specialists, the attention to detail and use of high quality components, reassures that beneath the Opalescent Blue paintwork, this car has been built to perform as well as it presents.

This 1964 E Type Jaguar is one of the last 3.8 litre engine cars produced. A matching number LHD car as confirmed by its Heritage Certificate that upon being disassembled was found to be in a wonderfully sound and original condition.
The owner, an experienced classic car owner and someone quite capable of carrying out a home restoration considered that 881349 was so unmolested that it deserved to be restored to the highest standard and engaged Hutson Motor Company to carry out the body restoration, which is importantly supported by invoices and a photographic record. His objective was to “at every step make sure it is a great driving car, without removing the charm of the Jaguar E-Type”.
The Bodyshell was put on Hutson’s jig and rebuilt with a new floor Pan and upgraded and strengthened sills, improving torsional rigidity. The front and back Bulkheads are original as are the door frames, rear wings, (so they have the correct radius’s) boot and front wings. The bonnet centre section and underpan were replaced. The engine frames have been engineered by E-Type Fabs.

Moving to the mechanical side of the restoration the original Engine was fully rebuilt by Jaguar engine specialist Chris Watson and again is supported by detailed paperwork. The engine, which is balanced together with the clutch, breathes out of its Classic Fabs big bore exhaust system, making just one more down change irresistible.

A *Teremec 5 speed gearbox was selected, which matches perfectly with the ratio of the back axle, rebuilt by IRS specialist Alan Slawson of AJS engineering. * The 4 speed Moss gearbox has been retained and comes with the car at the asking price.
The front brakes have been up-rated to 4 pot calipers made by Cooper Craft and the cooling system is kept on the cool side of normal thanks to the Fossway radiator and silicone hoses. Suspension components have been replaced, refurbished or rebuilt.
The electrics have been upgraded and kept charged by a Fosseway Dynator.
Events, adventures and celebrations are already in place to mark the 60th anniversary for the most beautiful car ever penned. 2021 and this wonderful series 1 E-type is ready to take you in style on a journey made of dreams.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
