This 1964 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on June 10, 1964 and distributed new through Jaguar Cars of New York to its first owner in Commerce, Texas. It was acquired in 1992 by the selling dealer, who carried out a restoration between 2007 and 2013 that included a repaint in a Union Jack livery. The numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six was also rebuilt, and additional work included installing a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, refreshing the brake and clutch hydraulics, replacing the wiring harnesses, reupholstering the interior in beige leather, installing a new soft top, and mounting new Dayton wire wheels. Service in 2020 included replacing the fuel pump, servicing the triple carburetors, performing a tune-up, changing the fluids, and fitting new tires. This XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, invoices from the restoration, a tool kit, and a clean Texas title.

Originally finished in Opalescent Dark Green, the body was repainted during the restoration in a custom UK flag design. Panel repairs were carried out as needed during the project, while brightwork was removed and various pieces were re-plated.

15×6” Dayton wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs were fitted in 2014, while Vredestein Sprint Classic tires were mounted in May 2020. A matching spare is housed in the trunk. The four-wheel disc brakes were overhauled during the restoration with repairs to the hydraulic system, calipers, and booster. A brake fluid flush was performed in May 2020.

The cabin has been reupholstered with beige leather over the bucket seats, door panels, console, and sills, consistent with the interior trim color listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. New beige carpeting was also fitted along with a color-matched top boot. Black lap belts are in place for each occupant, and a modern, vintage-look radio has been added.

A wood-rimmed, three-spoke steering wheel frames reconditioned Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Gauges monitoring coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are housed in the center dash above toggle-style switchgear. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 2,500 of which have been added during current ownership.

The 3.8-liter XK inline-six was rebuilt during the restoration with new pistons, bearings, valves, valve springs, timing chains, and gaskets, as well as a new oil pump and water pump. The block and cylinder head were machined during the overhaul. An aluminum radiator was installed, as were new wiring harnesses. A new fuel pump was fitted in May 2020, at which point the triple SU HD8 carburetors were refreshed. Additional service at that time included replacing the spark plugs and battery, fitting a new heater valve, flushing the coolant and clutch fluid, and changing the oil. Block stamping RA7076-9 matches stamping on the cylinder head.

A Tremec five-speed manual transmission from Terry’s Jaguar Parts was added during the restoration, and the clutch hydraulics were refreshed. The underside and suspension components were repainted during the project, and a new stainless steel exhaust system was installed. New ball joints were also fitted along with a new steering rack and coupler.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the manufacturing and shipping dates, as well as the original colors and component numbers. Invoices from the restoration work carried out by the selling dealer is included.
