Lot #134218
This 1962 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe underwent a refurbishment and modification process between 2005 and 2011 that involved installing a 5.0-liter V8 and a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission as well as modifying the chassis and bodywork before finishing the car in black. The black interior was also refreshed, and additional equipment includes 17” Vintage Wheel Works wheels, QA1 coilovers, a roll bar, Hedman headers, and Magnaflow mufflers. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment photos and records as well as a clean Kansas title.
The frame was modified to accommodate the replacement powertrain, and the bodywork was fitted with revised fender flares and exterior lighting. Fabricated components include the firewall, transmission mount and tunnel, and shock mounts. The car was refinished in black, and the seals and weatherstripping were also replaced.
Vintage Wheel Works 17” wheels are mounted with 225/55 Goodyear Eagle tires. The suspension and braking systems were overhauled during the refurbishment work, and QA1 coilovers have been fitted.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather that was installed during the refurbishment, and the carpets were also replaced at that time. Wood trim accents the center console. A roll bar has been fitted, and a headliner is not installed.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a fabricated instrument cluster housing a Stewart Warner 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary readouts are located in the center of the dashboard. The digital odometer shows 2,200 miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership.
The selling dealer reports that the 5.0-liter V8 was sourced from a 1990 Mustang GT and fitted with hypereutectic pistons and an F303 camshaft. Hedman headers and Magnaflow mufflers are also equipped.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission.
Photos showing various stages of the refurbishment records are also included in the sale
