This 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe is a non-running project that reportedly remained with the family of its original owner before being acquired by the seller in 2024. It is finished in black over red leather and is equipped with a 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and air conditioning. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is finished in black, and areas of rust, dents, fading, and other flaws around the body are shown in the gallery along with images of damage on the left fender. Equipment includes enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with GR 78-15 Michelin X tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, and air conditioning. There are tears on the seats, and the condition of the interior is shown further in the gallery.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is not running, and the car is said to have been last driven in the 1980s.
The engine is linked with a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Rust-through is present in the floors and on the underbody.
