This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I fixed-head coupe that was acquired by the seller’s father in 1976 and has reportedly been in storage since the engine seized in 1979. The car is finished in silver, and equipment includes a Webasto vinyl sunroof, knock-off wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, split chrome bumpers, aluminum dash trim, and headlight covers. A replacement 3.8-liter engine block and the numbers-matching four-speed manual transmission are included in the sale, along with the removed seats, center console, and additional removed parts. This Series I E-type is now offered as a non-running project with a Washington title.
Said to have originally been finished in Cream, the car was repainted its current shade of silver sometime during prior ownership and an area of body filler is noted in front of the driver’s door beneath the battery tray. The car is equipped with split chrome bumpers, headlight covers, and a Webasto vinyl sunroof. One piece of trim has been sourced by the seller, who states that two other pieces are missing. Rust-through is visible around the body.
Wire wheels are mounted with two-eared knockoff spinners and wear older tires. A spare is located in the trunk.
The cabin has been stripped of the carpets and seats but retains a burgundy dash pad and interior panels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, aluminum dash trim, a polished handbrake lever, a tan headliner, and sun visors. The removed burgundy seats, center console, and shift boot cover with aluminum trim are included in the sale.
Smiths instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles.
A replacement 3.8-liter inline-six engine block and a numbers-matching four-speed manual transmission are included in the sale, though a cylinder head is not provided. The sale also includes triple SU carburetors, a radiator, drive shaft, and manifold.
Areas of corrosion and rust-through are visible on the underside.
