Ebay item 8/9/15
www.ebay.com/itm/231642665964
Current bid US $27,655 reserve not met 69 bids 1 day left in auction.
Sellers description:
Although there is no documentation, this is a one owner, I sincerely believe the person I bought it from. Although he did say it was an original, and then after I bought it he told me he had the motor changed to a 4.2, He is 93 and I can understand how his memory can be blurry.
So now you know it's not numbers matching.
I had it in for a $3000 plus tune-up when I first bought it (have those papers) the mechanic said the compression and every thing else Brakes ect. where all good to go.
Although he drove the car from the shop to my house with me following without a problem, I myself am having a hard time getting a feel for the gears and have not had it out.
The car is sitting on 4 Pirelli tires and what could be the original spare in the boot.
The car is solid with no rust to speak of. there is a few indents on the driver door, seeing that they are at the same height I would suspect they are from the owner opening his other car door and pushing against the Jag.
Another dent just above the driver door on the roof, and the front turn signal has cracks.
The underneath head pipes muffler and tailpipes look almost new. and with a little more cleaning should look as good as the outside.
The upholstery has been started to be replaced, but the seats need to be done.
The car sounds great, and the owner has had a electric moon roof put in (which is great for anyone that is 6 foot or more).
This is a good solid car that with a few more dollars can be a GEM or a very good candidate for a full restoration.
The story on how I came about this car.
One day I was waiting in traffic on our local main street when all of a sudden I was T-boned by a lady doing a U-turn, (crunched both the doors on my year old BMW X5 )
Well she was elderly and a lot more shaken then I was, we exchanged information for the insurance company, I writing down mine on the back of a piece of paper I found on the front seat.
Some days later I realized that I needed information on the other side of that piece of paper, I called and she lived only about a kilometer away so I went over to pick it up.
Well I did that and after some chit chat she walked me back to my car, as we got to the top of the stairs she said "do you want to buy a JAG", to which I said "I wasn't thinking about it"
But I did have a look at the two which where undercovers in the carport and then left.
Well a month or more passed and I was cleaning out my drawers and came upon this wallet with a big JAG printed on it. I travel a bit and thought, I bought it some where and threw it in the drawer when I got home from the trip. Well to me this was a sign, and I ended up with one of the Jags. (I'm not a collector and past my mid life crises.)
After I had bought the car, I was telling the car and wallet story to my brother when he took out this wallet and said "oh you mean one like this"
Seems my Aunt was visiting a few years back and gave each of us one as a gift. NOT so much the sign I thought after all.
