I bought my 3.8 FHC in 1978 as a total junk with a frozen engine. It took me 10 years to completely restore on my own. Unfortunately, I haven't driven it for years and it now needs some cosmetic work which I will finish by spring 2008. My Dad took me to the London Jaguar showroom in 1962 looking to buy a MK10 and I sat in and fell in love with the E-TYPE and vowed to have one. So I do own my dream car!

I bought this car in 1977 as a TOTAL rusted out, frozen engine, purple paint with a white racing stripe, wreak. Finally restored in 1989 by DIY and little cash. Repainted Silver in 2012 with Red interior and now drive each summer - this my dream car and have 5 car show trophies so far. Could the original owner contact me please.

This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that was built on December 21, 1962, and first sold at Continental Cars Inc. of Austin, Texas on April 30, 1963. The car was acquired by the seller in 1977 and refurbished in the 1980s with new rocker panels, silver paint, red vinyl upholstery, and exhaust components along with suspension and engine work. Power is from a 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. New wire wheels were installed in 2016, and an oil and filter change was performed in summer 2019. This XKE is offered a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a transferable Maine registration in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Cream, the car was repainted in silver under current ownership in the 1980s following replacement of the rocker panels. The seller points out a dent and other blemishes, notes wear on the chrome bumpers and windshield, and describes rust in the rocker panels and door bottoms.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels were installed in 2016 and are mounted with Nexen tires. A matching spare with older rubber is fitted below the trunk floor.
Originally delivered in beige, the cockpit was reupholstered in red vinyl under the seller’s ownership in the 1980s. Patterned aluminum accents the center console and black dashboard, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel and shift knob are equipped along with a period Bowman push-button radio.
Just under 24k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, 10k of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown. The heater is disconnected, the oil pressure gauge is inoperable, and the tachometer does not read above 1,200 rpm.
The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six features a numbers-matching cylinder head and three SU carburetors. The engine was reportedly serviced during the 1980s refurbishment, and an aftermarket starter and electric fan were also fitted under the seller’s ownership. An oil and filter change was performed in 2019.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The exhaust system was replaced in the 1980s, and an aftermarket fuel pump has been fitted though the stock pump remains in the tank according to the seller.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate was issued in October 2019 and lists the date of manufacture, serial numbers, and original colors. Head stamp R9572-9 and frame stamp 887970 along with the matching chassis plate and certificate. Photographs of the original warranty documents and car show trophies are also available.
