    actioneer's description:

    Moteur n° RA 1106-8

The Type E, which was later on called Series 1, was created with 3.8 litre six-cylinder XK engine in the version which was increased to 265 horsepower which had already equipped the last XK 150s which were much heavier.
The V12 engine which had to propel it was not yet ready and the lovely Italian cars at the time therefore had some respite.
The innovative construction of the E Type front tubular trellis supporting the engine and the front axle and monocoque structure bringing together the interior and the rear plus the four independent wheel suspension produced a car that was light, lively, fast, exciting to drive and in any event without parallel in its time.
Because of all these qualities and despite a few faults which are easy to highlight after 50 years of progress, the E Types, and more specifically the ones that one would call Series 1, remain among the most beautiful sports cars of all time.
This coupé shown (corroborating chassis and engine number) was sold new in France and registered for the first time on 17 August 1963.
Originally metallic blue with a dark blue interior, the bodywork and upholstery of this E Type was restored in 1989 and it was repainted in 2008.
It is painted dark green with a fawn coloured leather interior, an elegant and classic combination.
Among the works carried out, we would like to highlight the adding of a stainless steel exhaust line in 1991, the repairing of the clutch in 1993, the unleaded adaptation in 2000, the change of wheels and butterfly valves in 2006, the replacement of the tank and the locks, the repair of the radiator in 2009 and the repair of the cardan transmission joints, the change of the discs and the repair of the rear callipers in 2010.
Conforming to the original and with 350 km on the clock, it is in impeccable working order.
It has been owned by the seller for 20 years, and comes with its cover, its tools and its normal French vehicle registration documents.
The current owner is also the seller of the TR4, his summer car.
