Owner: Dave Longley
Retired and living on a farm near Ottawa Canada. Have always been interested in sports cars, aviation and motorcycles. The car is a S1 FHC that I've owned since 1964. Good to hear from you Regent and thanks for the note. Yes, I had seen your car under the latest cars to register. All the best, Dave.

Ok, another reality adjustment. On-road target date now revised from August 04 to Spring 2005 latest. Car is now in final paint, clear coat, wet-sand stage and then it's time for some reassembly work. This year is a possibility however early next year is more likely. After all this time what's another few months... Dave

It would appear that I now drive the car (#876583) you traded in more than 40 years ago! Currently its color is Opalescent Dark Blue. I'd be interested to know if it was the same color when you owned it?
2006-04-03 11:19:30 | Dave writes:
Paul, the original owner of your car, 876583, was Claude Lafond out of Montreal so I can't confirm the original colour. He traded it in on 888765 2nd Oct 1963. I bought the car 5 months later in March 1964 with about 1200 miles on it. I had sat in the car in the showroom before Claude bought it but just couldn't afford the machine at the time. All the best with your new car.

Dave, beautiful car!!! My car is 888780, just 15 after yours. I'm just starting the major metal repairs on mine, but sure would love to able to see yours as a guide for when I start re-assembly.

Hi Craig, just let me know how I can help. Dave

Dave, Thanks. I'm not there yet and I was forewarned, but I did not take as many pictures of some of the specific assembly details that I should have. I'm sure I will have many questions for you in the future, but I can also use all the pictures that you might have as good reference points. Craig

Dave if your car was made in June, it could be registered as a 1963. My March 1964 OTS was originally registered as a 66 in Ont. and when I found out it was made in March the Ministry changed the registration for me to reflect the true year. A common error in that time period was for dealers to reg. the car in the following year. I have owned mine for 42 yrs.

Thank you Paul’s, John S. and Mark for your comments. Been awhile since I checked in.
Car will be on the road again once the snow disappears. Kind of like a time warp sometimes when driving this machine - from my early twenties until present and always a thrill. And i realize that I’m not alone here.

This is a rare matching numbers 1964 Jaguar XKE Series One 3.8 Coupe Serial No. 888765, which has had only one owner for the past 60 years. It was sold at a Jaguar dealership in Montreal, Quebec in October 1963, traded in for a different model a few months later, and subsequently purchased by the present owner in the Spring of 1964. Odometer showings 86,019 miles. For most of those 60 years, the owner kept up to date service and maintenance records with photos, including a detailed restoration log. Included are the original two owners’ Bills of Sale, Jaguar Operating Maintenance and Service Handbook, Jaguar Workshop Repair Manual (binder) and various printed dealer issued information and maintenance guides.
In 2004, At 61,000 miles, the car underwent a restoration wherein the engine and transmission were removed and the exterior stripped to bare metal, repaired and refinished in urethane paint in the original Opalescent Golden Sand. At the same time, the original engine was rebuilt, a mechanical overhaul was performed on brakes, drive train, steering, electrical, fuel system, etc., replacing or upgrading components as needed. The headliner, sun visors, arm rest, and floor mats (with under felt) were replaced, however the remainder of the light tan interior trim, including the hardura, moquette and and leather seats remain original to the car. While showing typical wear and fading, the interior maintains the rich vintage patina that is undeniably so important to a collector. All chrome trim including bumpers are original to the car, some areas showing typical aging, and wear. Full details of all work performed and parts replaced, including photos, are available on request. Several sensible upgrades were done over the years, some of which included the following:
Bell stainless steel exhaust system;
Dayton six-inch wire wheels with 205/65/R15 Falken ZE950 tires;
Adjustable Aldan shocks;
Lightweight aluminum flywheel;
Pertronix electronic ignition;
Lucas PL700 headlamps;
Lucas fog lamps;
Upgraded steering rack mounts;
Vehicle information as per ID plate and the accompanying Heritage Trust Certificate #74629 confirms the following production numbers:
Chassis no.888765 Gearbox no. EB10486JS
Engine no. RA2301-9 Body no. V5893
The car has seen little regular use over the past two years, however starts up immediately, drives straight and smooth with good engine compression and oil pressure.
