This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that is said to have spent time in Texas before being imported to Canada under previous ownership, and it was acquired by the seller as a disassembled project in 1991. A subsequent refurbishment involved the installation of a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six sourced from a 1986 XJ6 as well as an all-synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox, a 12-volt negative-ground electrical system, electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust, and Wilwood front brake calipers as well as a repaint in metallic gray. Additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, black upholstery, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a push-button radio. This XKE is now offered in Canada with a removed 3.8-liter inline-six and Moss four-speed manual gearbox, other spare parts, E-Type Fabs engine frames, and Ontario registration.
The body was repainted in its current shade of metallic gray in 1991, and replacement glass was also installed at that time. Equipment includes split chrome bumpers, glass headlight covers, a louvered hood, and a retractable antenna. A set of front and rear AMCO bumper bars is included in the sale.
Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels are retained with two-eared spinners, and they are mounted with Avon radial tires. The car is equipped with Wilwood four-piston calipers over discs up front as well as inboard units out back. Removed stock brake components are included in the sale.
The cabin features low-back seats trimmed in black upholstery with a matching dashboard, center console, door panels, sills, and carpets. Textured aluminum accents the dashboard, and additional equipment includes lap belts, a cigar lighter, and a push-button radio. The heater has been bypassed.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer sourced from a 1986 XJ6. Auxiliary gauges are positioned in the center of the dash, and spare gauges are included in the sale. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six is said to have been sourced from a 1986 XJ6 and rebuilt before being installed in 2006. It is equipped with triple SU carburetors on individual intake manifolds as well as a CoolCat fan, an XJ6-sourced 12-volt negative-ground electrical system, electronic ignition, and finned valve covers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement all-synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox. A stainless steel exhaust system was installed under current ownership.
The spare 3.8-liter straight-six is said to have been rebuilt and is included in the sale. Engine block and cylinder head stampings can be seen in the gallery, and they match the engine number listed on the chassis plate, RA2547–9. Additional photos of included spare parts, including E-Type Fabs engine frames, a Moss four-speed manual gearbox, and exhaust manifolds are also presented in the gallery.
Frame stamping 888874, the Ontario registration lists the VIN as J64888874. The vehicle is being sold on its 2008 Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada. The sale does not include a title.
