This 1964 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe project car that has been refinished in white over dark blue leather. The non-running numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six is paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, triple SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, and a wood-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Acquired by the seller in 2021, this XKE coupe project is now offered at no reserve with removed parts, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The car was originally Opalescent Silver Blue and was refinished in white under previous ownership. Rust, dents, and scratches are present throughout the bodywork, and close-up photos of the paintwork, trim, and glass are provided in the gallery below.
Painted 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knockoffs and mounted with older Pirelli Cinurato tires. The car rides on four-wheel independent suspension, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors.
The cabin is fitted with dark blue leather bucket seats and a contrasting black dashboard. The door panels have been removed and are included in the sale, along with removed window regulators and glass.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features an E-Type horn button and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. A quartet of auxiliary gauges is found in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The non-running 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The engine is said to turn freely by hand.
Engine block stamping RA 4251-9 shown above matches the number listed on the Heritage Trust certificate.
