Current bid $9,100 reserve not met, 21 bidsk 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Here is the proverbial barn find. This is the car every enthusiast is looking for. It was certainly the one I was looking for. I found a 1964 E type Jaguar Series I sitting in a barn in central California for the last 20 years. This is an absolute perfect candidate for restoration. This is the purest form of E type Jag. This Jag is VERY COMPLETE! Despite the pictures of it in its present disassembled state, the only parts I could find missing before I took it down was the hood latch on the fire wall and the motif bar. I have every piece of everything removed from the car with the excetpion of the rubber seals which came off in small pieces. I have all the nuts and bolts, all bagged and labeled. I have all of the interior parts, door panels, etc. Nothing has been discarded.

I bought this vehicle back in October of 2006. The car came straight to my shop where it has been ever since. My intention, like every other star struck kid with a dream, was to make this car look and run like new again. The first thing I did was get the car running. I replaced all of the hoses, drained and refilled the tank, I bought a new but generic fuel pump for it, since the pump it had was no good. I hooked up a good battery and cranked away. In about 5 minutes of cranking, the car fired up! After almost twenty years of sitting, this Jag idled so smoothly and had such nice throttle response. My goal was just that, make sure it ran, and the engine sounded good, then start to restore it. Now for the excuse for selling it. I own a growing automotive repair business. My recent additions to my shop have caused a spacial conflict. I am running out of room.

The condition of the car is, in my opinion, remarkable. It appears to have started life as a cream colored beauty, but at some point, a silver respray happened. I have not gotten around to apply for the JDHT cert, but based on my findings, nothing has been touched. Since my ownership, I have removed better than 90% of the interior. I did not remove any of the wiring. I left the dash and steering column in tact. I have removed the bonnet mounting frame and picture frame and the associated steering/suspension parts. All of the rubber seals have been removed in order to inspect pinch welds around widows and panels, etc. In its 43 years I can only find evidence of 1 hard hit. The right front section just behind the wheel has some heavy filler, but I feel much of the mystery has been taken out of the condition of the car since it has been partially dismantled. The body is straight, with some dings here and there, but overall very solid. It has the obligatory rusted foot wells on the passenger and drivers side and the boot floor is rusted. Any jag restorer knows those areas rust with impunity. I have climbed through every inch of this car to find any red flags, but I cant find anything major. The trans tunnel is tidy and unmolested. All of the cross members are rock solid. All of the pinch welds around the body are there, indicating panel originality. The bonnet has some filler on the front end, I dont believe this to be the original for the car, since it was red at one time. The belly pan on the bonnet is pretty beat up. The wings are very straight and solid. The bonnet mounting frame was damaged when I purchased the car. It had been poorly repaired at one time. The picture frame has damage underneath where some ding dong jacked it up without using a block of wood. I have taken a flashlight behind and inside of all the inner panels, and sills. There is no major rust any place else other than the areas mentioned above. As mentioned, this car is COMPLETE. All of the cross members and seat floors look like new. All of the wiring is original and clean as pictured. Some of the photos of the inside look as though a layer of rust has formed over the paint. I can assure you that is is residual adhesive.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
