1963 JAGUAR E-TYPE 3.8 LITER SERIES 1 COUPE
Silver Blue with Navy Blue leather interior, approximately 1,000 miles since complete restoration in the later 1990’s of an original 63,000 mile example, 4 speed manual synchro transmission fitted from a later 4.2 liter during restoration. Previously part of the Robert Hood collection it was restored by John Swaisland in the late 1990’s. The E-Type Coupe is an original left-hand drive model originally supplied to the United States. It is a past concour winner at various California Jaguar meetings and comes complete with original tool kit and factory jack. Exceptional throughout must be seen to be appreciated.

Car possible now listed in Hemmings however its history does not line up well with earlier stated history (which could also be incorrect). Also the data plate on this car is after market and though not clear appears to be 889695, its history doesn't fit well with that car either, use caution.

This numbers-matching 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster is an original California car with a documented history of limited ownership. The E-Type in fact features a “J/63” stamped tag next to the data plate, which was assigned from the California DMV in 1963 – a unique and original feature that is exclusive to original registered cars in the 1960s in California. The previous owner cared for the Jaguar for nearly 30 years, making practical upgrades to enhance its drivability as he enjoyed the Roadster. These included updated headers, the removal of the intermediate mufflers, and the addition of a 4.2-liter synchronized transmission for smoother shifting, along with an upgraded wooden steering wheel (the XKE also includes its original headers and mufflers, allowing for a return to stock configuration if so desired.) The car is finished in Opalescent Silver with a dark blue interior and presents nicely, as does its interior - with the seats displaying patina but remaining fully serviceable.
This is truly a solid high-driver level E-Type that not only runs and drives great but is wonderful choice for someone looking for a reliable classic to enjoy on the road while leaving room for gradual improvements over time while they enjoy the car. Whether you’re an enthusiast seeking a classic that’s ready to hit the road or a collector looking for a Series I E-Type to enhance, this car offers an excellent opportunity, don’t miss it!
