This time-warp example is at it left the factory in August of 1964, untouched, unmolested and as original as they come. It was bought new on August 18th 1964 from Delcroix of Paris by a French ex-Bugatti factory driver (one of the last Frenchman to compete with Bugatti in international GPs). A man with taste but also taste for speed. And where else to take his trusty E-type to get more speed out of it than to the local temple of velocity: Molsheim of course! Oswald, the mechanic who maintained his race cars, was asked to work on the lower end of the XK engine and lighten it further. The truth is we don't know the extent of his work but the owner's words suffice "230 km/h wasn't enough for me. I topped out at 250 km/h after Oswald had worked his magic on my engine and was more than pleased with the results". The clock was set back at around 40 000 km and now reads only 6000: an incredible 46 000 kilometres in total! Take a tour of the car and you will be amazed at how well preserved it is. Only a few flakes of paint have let superficial rust settle here and there but it is extremely sound throughout, with solid Eiffel towers, running boards, boot floors and foot wells. The leather is nice and supple with no rips and light wear. The condition of the paintwork is what really makes this car stand out: its Opalescent grey robe is unbelievably clean for a 50 year old car that's remained 42 years in a barn! Have a look underneath the bonnet and you'll instantly tell that this car hasn't ever been repainted. Inspect the mechanicals and make it a good, reliable driver while maintaining its patina and you'll revel and bask each time you drive past a shop window.
