This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that is finished in Regency Red with a black convertible top over a gray leather interior and powered by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It was reportedly purchased new from British Motor Cars in Portland, Oregon and was acquired by the selling dealer from its third owner in April 2020. The car was awarded Best in Show at the 2009 Lake Oswego, Oregon Car and Boat Show along with “Best Post-War Original Car” at the 2009 Forest Grove, Oregon Concours d’Elegance. Recent maintenance included a replacement brake booster and master cylinder, new brake hoses, and an air conditioning service. This XKE is now offered by the selling dealer with partial service records, a factory handbook, and a clean Oregon title. According to the selling dealer, the center section of the hood was repainted approximately 40 years ago.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in Dunlop Formula 70 SP Sport thin whitewall tires, and the car is equipped with power steering. Power-assisted disc brakes were standard equipment, and the rear brakes are inboard-mounted on either side of the rear differential. The brake booster, hoses, and master cylinder were replaced in April 2020.

The interior is trimmed in gray leather with matching carpets and door panels as well as a black dash. A Philips AM/FM/short-wave radio is fitted above the shifter, and the A/C system was recharged in April 2020.

A wood-rimmed factory steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring battery voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added by the selling dealer in the last month.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors and was factory-rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque.

Engine stamping 7R8707-9 matches the number stamped on the underhood identification plate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.

Ebay item 6/15/20

www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Jaguar-E-Type/174317353426

Car has a buy it now price of $125,000 for 29 days, seller mac200864, same location and photos, 16, miles.

This is a 3-owner car purchased new from British Motor Cars, in downtown Portland Oregon in 1970. The 1st owner was a woman who kept it 10 years, until 1980, and put 10,000 miles on it. The second owner retained it for the next 29 years and put 5,000 miles on the Jaguar. The 3rd owner, a well-known collector, received the car with 14,800 miles in 2009. He kept it 11 years and put about 1,000 miles on it, mostly to keep it in good running order. He knew about this car back in 1980. He even included a story about this car in a book he wrote. In the first year he owned it, he showed this in several venues. That year, 2009, this XKE won "Best Post War Original Car" at the Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance. A major concours that attracts cars from all over the country and outside countries. 2 months later, it won the Lake Oswego car and vintage boat show, competing against 400 participants. The last 10 years he kept it quietly in his own collection. He is a good friend and when I took ownership, this had never been offered publicly for sale in 50 years.

This has excellent all original paint except for the center of the bonnet, refinished in 1980, due to 2 dimples on the hood. The fenders are factory paint. The last and 3rd owner was actually at Mike Sholpe's shop, where the car was being painted, 40 years ago. It was painted in lacquer and it is very difficult to detect it has been painted.

This has power steering and air conditioning (serviced 4 months before I acquired it) and blows cold. The Jaguar runs and drives like a new car. Remarkably, nothing has been apart on this car. For example: the carbs, (this has always had fresh fuel), gas tank, water pump, heads etc., etc., are just like this car left England.

The soft top and rear plastic window are still in wonderful condition. The top boot is soft, fits very well and not brittle. The seats, door panels, dash and carpets are nicely preserved. When you look under the dash, the heater motor has no dust in it. It has the original Lucas headlights. The chrome is excellent. The trunk and trunk mat are like new.  The tools have never been used, as well as the spare tire. Hard to imagine, this has no oil leaking, and everything works. The radio (work's and sounds great), the gauges, interior and dash lights, instruments, brake lights, headlights, taillights and back up lights all work. The glass is like everything else.

I had already graduated from college and finished serving in the Army when this car was built. In my 50 years of owning collector cars, I cannot remember ever seeing a car (of any make or model this age), that is this well preserved. It has 16,000 original miles.
