A number of old receipts come with the car which verify mileage. Reciepts show clutch was done July 6, 1974, at 49,551miles. That the engine was rebuilt on June 22, 1977, at 64,482 miles with 30 over piston. The car had 70,631 miles when Binkley bought the car in 1984 and currently shows 71,500
While the Binkley ownership he bought a new interior for the car obviously with plans to restore the car. Other than the few miles he put on; the car was never restored. The interior was still all in boxes when Gary Kaksuka bought the car from Binkley estate.
The engine had 6229 miles on it since it was rebuilt in 1977. As work was set on the car the head was removed to check engine condition. All looked good, the head was resurfaced, and cylinders, pistons and valves all looked good. All head studs were replaced, along with new head gasket some freeze plugs were removed to make sure it was clean in the block. The oil pan was removed, and bearings were all checked and in good condition. Just to be safe a new oil pump was installed along with a new pan gasket, and the oil filter was replaced as well.
The 2020 restoration was completed in British Racing Green with interior was redone in beige along with a new top, dash and steering wheel refinished. The interior of the trunk was redone. All four bumpers and uprights are new. Exhaust resonators are new as well as oil exhaust mounts. All air conditioning hoses were replaced and recharged with freon plus oil field and works great. The power steering pump and steering pump and steering rack were rebuilt. All fan belts on cars are new as well as all hoses with new jubilee hose clamps. Now a high efficiency radiator with modern fans and shroud is installed. Sark plugs, wire, cap, points, condenser, rotor, vacuum advance. Coil and Belfast all new and replaced front calipers sleeved in stainless steel and built with new brake hoses and brake master and servo installed. New clutch master slave cylinders and hose installed. Upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends installed. The gas tank was cleaned acid etched and sealed and reinstalled with new mounts and new sender units. All fluids in the car have been changed and all greased and fittings lubed.
