1970 Jaguar XKE 4.2 Liter Coupe Chassis no. 1R 27810
This 1970 XKE is a manual transmission car with power steering, which is thought to have been originally delivered to the U.S. market. Reading just over 38,000 miles on its odometer, it is known to have been off the road since 1990, and to judge from its overall condition, we are confident that this reflects its total use. A good solid car, repainted once early on in its life in the original color way, but the interior remains entirely original and is in remarkably good and intact order, right down to the original transfers on the seat belt buckles and other period decals and features.

After its long term hibernation of more than 20 years, at the time of cataloguing, it was found that the engine spins freely and with some service and attention it is anticipated that the car could be made to run.

With low miles, and a charming patinated and original interior, this is a tidy example of the Series 2 Coupe.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
