This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II 2+2 example that was purchased in 1979 by the seller, who states that the car has mostly remained in storage for the last 17 years. The car is finished in silver over black leather, and it is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, a push-button Sanyo AM/FM/cassette radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Service since 2016 includes rebuilding the carburetors, adding PerTronix electronic ignition, and replacing the brake master cylinder, fuel tank, fuel pump, clutch cylinders, heater hoses, and valve cover gaskets. This XKE is now offered with service records, an owner’s handbook, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The Series II XKE debuted in 1968 with uncovered headlights as well as horizontal taillights below the wrap-around rear bumper. This example was refinished in its current silver under previous ownership in 1978. Imperfections including scratches, chipped glass, pitted chrome, cracked weather seals, and corrosion.

The 15″ wire wheels feature three-lobed knock-off hubs and are mounted with 195/70 Michelin XWX tires. The brake master cylinder was replaced in September 2016.

The 2+2 cabin features seating trimmed in black leather as well as a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a lockable glovebox, an analog clock, a wood shift knob, a Sanyo AM/FM push-button radio, and woven floor mats. Cracks are visible in the leather upholstery, and the shifter boot is torn.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instruments including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 25k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Stromberg carburetors. Service since 2016 includes rebuilding the carburetors, repairing vacuum leaks, and replacing the fuel tank, fuel pump, radiator, heater hoses, and valve cover gaskets. Corrosion is visible on the exhaust manifold.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that received replacement clutch cylinders in September 2016.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
