Current owner has had car for many years. Looks like an extremely low mileage example. For sale as of July, 2007

12,500 miles, on ebay 06/08, seller writes:This is a stunningly well-preserved, low mile Jag. The odometer shows under 12,500 miles. Both I and the previous owner believe this is correct; but I can’t certify it. The condition certainly seems to bear this out. I purchased this car from the previous owner of approximately 15 years. He was the car’s second owner. It is an excellent running and driving car. It has had nearly $6,000 of very recent professional mechanical work, including a new brake servo and conversion of the factory air conditioning to use the newer 134a refrigerant. It is not a concours trailer queen, but instead is a beautiful near-original. This car can be driven and enjoyed as is, with no need to be cosmetically restored.

The original chassis number is properly stamped on the front crossmember, and all factory ID tags are present. The mileage on the odometer is possibly not correct, and should not be relied upon. If you want a low-mileage 2+2 to drive and enjoy, you’ll be hard pressed to do better than this rare example.

I have placed a very reasonable reserve on the car. Please do not ask me to reveal the amount. Bidders PLEASE read the description and conditions completely before bidding. Please contact me with any questions, or for additional photos.

BODY: This car was rustproofed and undercoated when new. The insides of the sills, front frame rails and underside of the bonnet were coated. I have removed most of the coating from the frame rails and bonnet underside because it was pretty unsightly. The coating is still present as a protective measure in areas where dirt and water tend to collect. I can’t find any areas where there was ever rust or accident damage. The panel gaps are as tight and flush as when the car left the factory. The body has had one very nice repaint in the original Sable color at some time in the past. Paint was nicely applied and has great gloss. It isn’t perfect; but is very attractive. There are minimal chips which come with use. This car gets a lot of attention and compliments. Most of the chrome is very good. Some of the weatherstrips are a little tired, but windshield and hatch glass rubber are good.

INTERIOR: Everything in the beautiful, Cinnamon colored interior is original as far as I can tell. Very good to excellent carpets, door panels, dash, console, headliner, and original steering wheel. Seat leather is soft and pliable, and has a nice patina. The like new seat belts have all the proper tags, with ORIGINAL Jag emblems still on the buckles. Check the picture of the center switch panel. The “chrome” plating around the switches is excellent. It is usually worn away, and is dull silver paint on reproduction panels.

ENGINE, COOLING and DRIVETRAIN: Runs smoothly and accelerates very well with no issues apparent. New plugs, belt, oil and filter. Top timing chain just adjusted. No overheating issues. Cooling fans operating normally. Typical Jaguar oil seepage, but nothing serious.

Automatic transmission shifts smoothly and operates properly. Differential exhibits no unusual noise or problems.

STEERING and SUSPENSION: Everything tight and working as expected for a low-mileage car. Power steering is smooth and tight. Some minor rubbing at full lock due to wider than standard tires.

BRAKES: Servo just rebuilt. Fluid flushed and replaced with new Castrol LMA. Reservoirs were removed and cleaned during this process. New brake hoses. Master cylinder, calipers and rotors are in proper working order.

ELECTRICAL and INSTRUMENTS: Factory air blows cold. Charging system and battery working properly. All main relays replaced for reliability. Starter, headlights, taillights, flashers and signals all work properly. Speedo and tach as well as all gauges, horn, heater fan in proper working order. Appears to have the original Phillips AM-FM radio currently in car. Clock works intermittently.

WHEELS and TIRES : Newer, slightly wider profile Michelin 205/70x15 tires with plenty of tread left. Wheels in good condition with no broken spokes but plating on some spokes shows age. Rims and hubs very good. Original Dunlop SP Sport whitewall spare! (see picture) Spare wheel still has some of the factory protective coating and balancing mark. Original jack but no toolkit.

GENERAL: Remember, this is a 38 year old used car and is being sold as-is, with any existing faults, whether known or unknown. There is no warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. I have been a licensed dealer in Illinois for over 20 years. The above description is accurate, to the best of my knowledge, but should not be relied upon to take the place of an inspection. I encourage your inspection BEFORE bidding.

No additional charges assessed, other than those taxes and fees required by your state when registering the vehicle. Due to Illinois state law, buyers in some states may be subject to Illinois sales tax, which will be credited back by your home state. Check my eBay feedback. Again please feel free to contact me for any additional information, photos, etc.

Current bid $6,766 reserve not met, 12 bids 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $27,500. Car now located in Macon, Georgia.

    Sellers description:
This is an all original (except paint) 1970 Jaguar XKE 2+2 with only 14,784 miles. The car has automatic trans and air conditioning. It remained in inside dry storage for 28 years, upon removal from storage and over the past 3 years I have documented receipts for $13,586.24 spent to bring this classic Jag to better then new driving conditions. Other then the paint and tires this Jag is totally original and in superb condition, possibly the finest 1970 you will ever find. 1970 is the last year for the 4.2 liter dual overhead cam 6 cylinder engine.

As I was taking the photos this afternoon the overall condition of this car is beyond belief you will have to see it to believe how nice it is. I welcome inspections. The car is in Macon, Georgia. There are a lot of receipts which will go with the car.

Notice how consistent in width and spacing all body seams are. The repaint is very nice, it is a base coat clear cote and I don't think it has ever beem sanded or buffed, if that were done the car has such an incredibly straight body there could not be a nicer Jag anywhere.

There are several photos of the sides and lower panels, I am retired from 37 years of buying and selling classics and in my opinion there is no repair work anywhere on this body.

The interior , again in my opinion is 100% original, no wear or cracks in the leather, no wear on the drivers threshold, carpets look new, headliner is perfect, all leather trim is excellent, no wear on the brake pedal, ash tray never used, a shot of the odometer showing 14,784 miles.

There are 3 photos through the rear door, 1, the rear seat all the way back, 2, the rear seat down and the storage tray extended foward notice there is no color difference form where the cover is usually closed #, the spare exposed showing the 5th wire wheel, a jack, a lead mallot, and an accessory tool for wheel removal, by the way I think the spare is an original Dunlap tire still with great tread and no air. The car runs and drives great.

A photo of the rear bottom pan, no scratches or dents. A photo of the front bottom of the bonnet, this is an area on E types that gets a look of abuse, check out the bottom of this bonnet.
