This 1970 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is a running project that is finished in red over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes factory air-conditioning components, power steering, knock-off wire wheels, a replacement stainless steel exhaust system, a solid-state fuel pump, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car is said to have been acquired by the seller from the second owner in 1995, after which it was driven for a few years before refurbishment was started. This XKE is now offered at no reserve with spare parts, partial records, and a transferable New York registration.
The seller states that the car was refinished in red during previous ownership, and believes that the car was light blue prior to the repaint. Features include brightwork around the windows and upper doors, a chrome rear bumper, a side-opening hatch, and polished dual exhaust outlets. A repair is noted on the right-front fender, and an uninstalled body rubber seal kit is included in the sale.
Chrome-finished Dayton knock-off wire wheels wear BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires. Standard equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, and the car features optional power steering. A set of five factory wire wheels with older tires are included in the sale.
The cabin features seating for four trimmed in black leather with a matching dashboard and door panels, along with a cream-colored headliner. Dealer-installed air conditioning components are fitted, but the system does not work. Replacement air-conditioning hoses are included in the sale.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames factory Smiths instrumentation including a tachometer and a 160-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows under 76k miles, with true mileage unknown.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 245 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that service included an oil change, fitting a solid-state fuel pump, and replacement of the water pump and cooling system hoses. Oil leakage is noted from the engine.
A replacement stainless-steel exhaust system was installed during current ownership.
