Ebay auction 11/3/03
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $13,800.00 (Reserve not met), 2 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers comment:
This XKE Coupe is one of the rarest of the production Jaguar sports cars. It is one of only 16 coupes manufactured in 1971 with the 4.2L 6 cylinder engine.

These 16 coupes can be identified by the serial number containing the combination "2R", a chrome ring around the front air scoop, and the jaguar emblem on the back lower portion of the bonnet . This XKE has all three of these identifications.

This car, to my knowledge, is totally original and unrestored with the exception of a "show quality" professional paint job. The paint was absolutely perfect when I bought the car, but now has a few "pencil lead' sized pebble chips. This is due to the fact that I have driven the car approximately 1000 miles since I purchased it.

I purchased this sports car from The Brenner Collection in Houston, Texas about 2 years ago. Several Concours d' Elegance 1st place show cars in Carmel, California have come from this collection, and this auto is of that quality. It is not a 100 point car by any means, but could easily be put into that condition.

This car has no rust because it has lived most of it's life in a climate controlled automobile museum. It's designated parking spot was usually between the Aston Martin that Sean Connery drove in "Goldfinger", and a 1 million dollar Hispano-Suiza. It has been garaged with a dust cover in New Mexico since I purchased it. I must say that I could not afford to air condition and heat my garage, but New Mexico - as most car lovers know - has perfect weather for classic automobiles.

I installed a new heater radiator and control valve, and I have had the power rack and pinion reconditioned by Terry's Jaguar Shop.

The five Michelin tires have less than 2000 miles on them, and the five chrome spoke wheels are close to perfect. The brakes are perfect.

The chrome on the entire car is almost flawless.

The rubber on the car has no major flaws (the rubber on the passenger door window could use a little refitting.)

The A/C works perfectly with only the high speed fan switch not functioning. The clock works like a Jaguar clock.

I have maintained the oil, grease, and other fluids more than necessary, and the belts and hoses are basically unused. The engine has been started and car driven on a scheduled basis.

This car comes with a complete set of shop manuals.

NO RUST !!!

Last weekend, knowing that I was going to list the car on eBay, my wife and I drove this automobile on a 100 mile trip up the mountain to Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and the car operated as if it were new. The only problem we had was when 3 different people literally "curbed" us to look at the car. That drive made listing this Jaguar very difficult for me (I am selling this beautiful Jaguar XKE because my wife told me to do so!!)

Car returns to EBay:

1971 Export Sales

OTS (roadster) = 19
FHC (2 seat) = 16

Few sports cars have had the effect of the E-type. A sensation when introduced in 1961,there was nothing like it then or today. Derived from the Le Mans winning D-types of the 1950’s, here is a street car that could reach 150 mph, this back in 1961 when E-types were fitted with a 3.8 litre engine. The engine was enlarged to 4.2 litres in 1964, at which time a new synchromesh transmission was fitted. The 4.2 series have long been considered the car to own due to their upgraded cooling, enhanced interior comfort and drivability.

It comes fully loaded with the following factory features:-

Adjustable Telescoping Steering Wheel
Center Console
Courtesy Lights
Full Instrumentation
Heater
Leather Head Rests
Leather Front Bucket Seats
Map Light
Rear Defroster
Reclining Bucket Seats
Sports Steering wheel
Steel Chrome Wire wheels
Tachometer
Tinted Glass
Trip Odometer
Twin Electric Cooling Fans

The car also has all the “unique” 1971 factory options:

Air Conditioning (blows cold)

Power Steering

Sable (brown) exterior and Tan leather interior

James Bond type front number plate that deploys flat for increased air flow at speed.

Items signifying the limited production model status:
Small tell tale chrome ring around the front air intake
Two jaguar medallions on the front wings.
Chassis number is prefixed with “2R”. 2R28243.

Vehicle Condition: This is not a restored car, it has been taken care of and maintained by professionals throughout its life which shows in its overall original condition. This is the last of the Jaguar 4.2 liter breed.

This unique Jaguar has covered less than 32,000 original miles.

The car is original, straight, has a rust free body and is in excellent shape having been garaged in private collections in Texas and New Mexico for many years. The fit and shut -lines of the hood, doors and hatch are excellent. It now garaged in sunny Southern California. The car has been professionally repainted the original color once, some time ago. The paint is still very glossy with some very small stone chips on the front of hood, door edges and two small surface scratches on the right front hood. These items can be easily touched up as they are surface only and have not impacted the metal at all. All the glass is in perfect condition. The chrome-work is in very good condition. There are some scratches on the front chrome bar around Jaguar medallion inside the hood intake (although this is very hard to see unless your 2 inches away and look inside). The rear wheel well is completely rust free except for very minor “surface only” rust around the screw down center section. This is surface only and can be rubbed down to clean metal and primed.

The car is propelled by Jaguar’s legendary 4.2 litre engine. With the dual overhead cam (DOHC) twin carb engine under the hood, these cars are capable of reaching a top speed

of 150 mph as measured by Jaguar’s own test drivers at Coventry, England. Everything under the hood looks clean and original. The engine keeps excellent oil pressure (above 50lb) and runs under normal on the temperature gauge. The engine starts easily, the car is easy and comfortable to drive with (rare) factory power steering and air conditioning All items are original except for electronic ignition and an enlarged capacity radiator core. Both these items improve the reliability of the vehicle. The car runs smooth. Gearbox syncro’s are excellent. Oil Pressure is 50lb plus.

The original tool kit, original owners manual, parts manual and service manual are included. Also E-type Jaguar rubber floor mats are included (new) in original shipping box.

Recent service maintenance over the past 12 months includes:
Rebuilt power steering rack
New NOS exhaust system
New Rear shocks
Rebuilt Carbs
New plugs, hoses, belts, thermostat and engine mounts.
Re-cored radiator (30% extra capacity)
Tune up including HT leads and distributor cap

The interior of this car is “amazing”! All original carpets, seat leather, trim, dash, consol, head liner and wheel. All are in very good condition!

The E-type Jaguar has always been voted one of the top ten, if not the number one pure sports car of all time. These coupes are fast becoming a rarity, and are desirable as a road car and fantastic sports car. They can’t be beaten for their looks and performance. This car must be one of the most original 1971 limited production fixed head coupes left in the country. This specimen is an excellent candidate for a “driver class” show car being an un-restored, low mileage, low production, original Southern States car. These cars are only “original once” and now very hard to duplicate. If you are looking for a unique E-type coupe then this is the one. It’s an honest original car that is very elegant, fun to drive and a source of great pride.

Car for Sale in Australia (EBAY)
www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jaguar-/330567508131

1970 E-Type Jaguar Fixed Head Coupe

This 4.2 litre E-Type Jaguar car was a near end of production model with a VIN number prefix of '2R' it came with factory fitted air conditioning and power steering.

This unique Jaguar was once owned by Alfredo Brener and was part of his extensive collection in Houston USA .

The car is in excellent original condition with 38500 miles showing on the clock. It comes with stainless steel exhaust pipes, electronic ignition and the front brakes have been reconditioned with stainless steel sleeves. The power steering was reconditioned in 2007 and the air-conditioning overhauled with new compressor core from XK unlimited (USA) in 2011. This jaguar is rust free and has been treated with Waxoil. The engine keeps excellent oil pressure at all times and all cylinder compressions are good. The chrome work is excellent and the body paint is in good condition having been cosmetically repainted at some time in its life but with a few small paint chips but hard to to see. If you are looking for a restored car then maybe this is not for you. This car is an excellent 40 yr old car with all the patina you would expect from a car of this era. It comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and an all matching number car.

A roadworthy certificate will be supplied when the car is sold as it is on Historic registration plates.
