This example has been in the owners care since he bought it from Malcolm C. Elder of Oxfordshire in 1997. Originally supplied to the USA market, the car had been fully converted to RHD, European specification throughout.

In 2009 the car underwent a major mechanical overhaul of engine, transmission, rear axle and suspension. There are invoices for parts alone, amounting to £8,000 It also benefited from electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust, 4 new tyres (may 2011). As a trained British Leyland mechanic from the 1960's, the vendor has carried out the majority of the works.

Finished in signal red with biscuit leather, the car has covered just 600 miles since the overhaul, has always been correctly garaged when not in use and is offered complete with a history file and a photographic record of the overhaul.

This excellent all round example was imported from the USA in 1988 and it has had just three owners since. Between 1997 and 2011 the car was fully restored and converted to right-hand-drive. At the time a stainless steel exhaust was fitted and the engine was rebuilt to UK specification with triple HD8 SU carburettors. We are told by the current owner that the engine runs very well, with no oil smoke. In the four year current ownership, the car has had a great deal of expenditure lavished on it including in 2012 the rear axle being rebuilt with 3:07:1 ratio, new brake discs and pads, new drive shaft UJs fitted, new upper wishbones fitted, in addition to a new steering rack and new track rod ends. Earlier this year the car was serviced with ‘lube’ and air filters being replaced. The oil was also changed at 24,872 miles with Castrol Classic 20w50. This iconic classic car is a real head-turner and it has been well maintained throughout the current ownership. We understand that the period radio/cassette player is working well, although the Smiths clock recently stopped working. The car is offered with a selection of old MOTs going back to 1988, a file of bills and a Heritage Certificate showing that this car was one of the last to be exported to BL New York late 1970; it also still sports the very rare chrome trim around the bonnet mouth.

This particular 1970 Jaguar E-type Series II Fixed Head Coupé was dispatched from Browns Lane on 13th November 1970 finished in Sable over a Cinnamon leather interior. In left-hand drive form with a manual gearbox, it was destined for distributor British Leyland, New York. The early part of its history in the States is unknown, but we know that it returned to the UK and was registered with the DVLA on 14th October 1988. From 1997 to 2011 the car was subject to a rolling restoration and was converted to right-hand drive, with the bodywork fully restored and freshly painted in Carmen Red. In 2008, the engine was fully rebuilt to UK specification including triple HD8 SU carbs and a stainless steel exhaust. A photo album logging much of this work accompanies the car.

The owner, prior to our vendor, carried out a host of mechanical work from 2012 - 2016 which included; a specialist rear axle rebuild with 3.07:1 ratios and speedo recalibrated to suit, overhauled calipers with new brakes discs and pads, new Gaz adjustable dampers on the front, poly-bushed front and rear suspension, new steering rack and track rod ends, a period radio/cassette, and service items such as fluids and filters. Much of this work was carried out by specialist Racing Green for which a £3,200 bill is included in the history file. Eagle-eyed E-type enthusiasts will notice that this car has a plastic leaping-cat emblem located on the side of the bonnet along with a narrow strip of chrome trim around the nose - late Series II features according to the Jaguar E-type Restoration and Originality Guide by Dr Thomas F. Haddock.

This lovely E-type, now finished in Carmen Red with a Cinnamon and Biscuit interior, is supplied with its Jaguar Heritage Certificate (matching numbers), a UK V5c, an MOT until 9th July 2018, the restoration photo album, and a host of invoices from various parts suppliers. With Jaguar E-type prices continuing to soar, this Series II FHC is in fine usable condition and represents superb value in today's market.

'APP 164J' started life as a lefthand drive export model that was despatched to British Leyland New York on November 13, 1970, however, little is known of its life until it was UK registered on October 14, 1988. During the period 1997 to 2011 it was apparently treated to a rolling restoration, during which: the bodywork was restored and repainted in Carmen Red; the engine was fully overhauled and equipped with triple SU carburettors and a stainless steel exhaust system; and the steering converted from left to righthand drive. Additional improvements carried out between 2012 and 2016 included: a switch to 3.07:1 rear axle ratio and related recalibration of the speedometer; a brake overhaul involving new discs and pads; the fitting of Gaz adjustable dampers on the front and Polybush suspension bushes all round; the replacement of the steering rack and track rod ends; the installation of a period radio cassette; and a general service covering fluids and filters etc - much of this work was carried out by Racing Green, the £3,200 bill for which is included in the history file, along with a photographic record of the earlier labours. The vendor nowadays classes the bodywork, paintwork, Tan leather interior trim, straight-six engine and manual four-speed gearbox as all being in 'very good 'condition, and is now offering the Jaguar complete with Heritage Certificate and the aforementioned invoice and photo album.
