As the Heritage Certificate confirms, this stunning silver E-Type was built in June 1972 and despatched to British Motor Holdings of Canada in September of that year. A left-hand drive automatic model with green Sundym glass, it was bought new by politician and business tycoon, Charles Greb of Kitchener, Ontario (famous for introducing the Hush Puppies brand to Canada), who was to keep it right up until his death in 2006.

Clearly very fond of the car, Greb treated it to an extensive renovation in 1998/99 at a cost of over $40,000 with many bills and photos on file to document the process which included a full repaint in the original silver. It then had one further local owner before being bought by Toby Grafftey-Smith in 2015, co-founder of pop group Jamiroquai, who ran a business called Angelic Imports which specialised in bringing E-Types into Britain from America.

The vendor spotted the car being advertised by Grafftey-Smith. A forensic engineer by profession (specialising in accident investigation) he had also formerly been a Jaguar engineer and, although he wasn't really looking for an E-Type, he was so impressed by the condition of this one that he just had to have it and a deal was swiftly done. Once the car got back to England in December 2015 (with all duties paid), it was soon UK registered and the vendor set about improving it still further, spending many happy hours in his workshop bringing it to the wonderful condition you see today.

The work carried out in the last few months has included: Federal emissions equipment removed to restore full power; carbs overhauled; front suspension fully rebuilt; new front brake discs, master cylinder, servo, hoses and pipes; new steering rack; new header tank; all new coolant hoses and clips; two new six-blade fans with new Otter switch; upgraded SNG Barratt Opus electronic ignition and distributor; new n/s exhaust manifold and downpipes; new throttle cable and kickdown switch; new oil pressure sender unit; new HT leads; new inertia reel seatbelts; virtually all nuts and bolts replaced with new stainless steel items - you get the picture!

Now in sparkling condition throughout and said to drive superbly, it is due to have a fresh MOT in time for the sale. Documentation includes the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, restoration invoices and photographs, an owner's handbook in the original wallet and a factory workshop manual.

As good an example as we have ever offered, this 'matching numbers' E-Type is showing only 40,000 miles on the clock which is believed to be correct and could easily be converted to RHD if desired using a kit supplied by SNG Barratt. With the very best V12 Coupes now making in excess of £60k, it looks excellent value at the sensible guide price suggested.
