This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was first delivered to Falvey Imported Cars of Ferndale, Michigan, and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in green over black leather, and features include a black soft top, a top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. The car was refinished under previous ownership, and the current owner purchased it in 2016. This Series III E-Type is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a factory invoice copy, the owner’s manual, a spare tire and jack, service records, and a clean Minnesota title in the current owner’s name.

The car left the factory in British Racing Green and was refinished under previous ownership. Features include a black soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, RoW-spec bumpers, and a power antenna.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with a mixed set of 215/70 Pirelli tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in black leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. The seat foam was replaced in 2014. Interior amenities include an AM/FM radio, wind-up windows, a locking glovebox, and a heater.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

A copy of the car’s factory invoice identifies equipment, options, and a retail price of $8,948.90.

The Jaguar Heritage Production Record Trace Certificate identifies dispatch date, colors, and chassis, body, and engine numbers.

A spare 15″ wire-spoke wheel secured with knock-off spinner is included in the sale, as is a jack and related tools along with an owner’s manual.

Photos showing the repaint under prior ownership are included in the sale, as are records and spare parts.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
