Car was at auction in '07

Auction description:
Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction
17 - 18 August 2007
Lot 292
1973 Jaguar Series III E-Type Roadster
Sold for $44,000
Chassis no. UD1S21928

The 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster presented here was treated to a comprehensive restoration to show quality standards by the experts at Classic Showcase. During the restoration process the car was stripped to bare metal, the body was then fully prepped, resprayed in Signal Red, color sanded and buffed to a perfect shine. The brightwork was rechromed and polished as needed, the interior was correctly reupholstered in black and a matching black cloth top was fitted. The bonnet has been converted to covered headlights, the bumper has been removed and slight revisions were made to the grille opening. Other special features include an Alpine AM/FM stereo and cassette player with power booster and four speakers, factory air conditioning, and an alarm system. The engine, transmission, suspension, and rear-end have been rebuilt and the entire car was mechanically serviced to ensure that it starts, runs and drives in peak form.
The E-Type Roadster has a matching numbers drivetrain and comes with a Heritage Certificate and a folio containing all the documentation from the restoration. This late model E-Type represents one of the very last years of one of the most significant designs in automotive history. It is an excellent performance machine and will surely make a beautiful addition to anyone's collection.

Lot 292 - Addendum
Please note that the restoration performed on this Jaguar was not performed by the specialists at Classic Showcase, but rather had been done by another marque specialist in Los Angeles. Classic Showcase did however fully inspect the roadster, and attended to any minor issues the car may have had, in preparation for the Monterey auction.
